in fact our entire top 8 forwards not named gaborik and prospal- whos really a 2nd liner.
If you're so fast that your hands and mind can't keep up with it (Enver Lisin) then there's really no good use for it.

Cally, Higgins, Dubinsky, Drury, Avery are all quite competent in their own zone and decently physical and Kotalik well....PP and shootout specialist.

Speed is not everything. Give me a guy with average speed with decent hands, shot and skill over the guy that's blazing speed but lacking in the other departments.

its so sad really.

we throw out a top 12 of:

2 1st liners and then 10 random 3rd/4th liners who can play anywhere from 4th line to 2nd line, with centers playing wing and wingers playing center with any combination of linemates which are usually different throughout the game.

and yet, inspite of all that "chemistry", we still dont win. imagine that.

what a mess.

I would not do that trade, were giving are best center for a second liner. I mean i like Cogliano, but i just think Dubi is too good to be given up for a questionable player.

And it's not a lateral move. It's a downgrade. You lose Dubinsky's size and physical play for a shrimp who is a Higgins clone.

I wouldn't even think of swapping either as it's a big time downgrade for us.
thank you!!

trading Dubinsky is assinine! He's still a kid!!!! He's got cpt written all over him, damn people.

True. But that's still a lot of guys moving around.

Funny thing is I'd probably do that deal...even not knowing much at all about any of the Oilers mentioned.

sell high. buy low.

a month ago he wasnt worth squat. now, someone might be stupid enough to take him. he isnt being resigned next season unless he plays for free.

this team needs to be blown up and reconfigured.

havent we got to a point after last night finally to realize torts being mad and the team needing to "try harder" isnt going to cut it now.

we keep establishing "the bottom" after every game we play.

the dynamic of this team is bad. we cant score.

change it.

What are you going to get for Higgins at this point? A 3rd rounder? A middling prospect?

Nothing that particularly helps the Rangers.

Besides, the guy has been our 3rd best forward behind Gaborik and Prospal.

This team is stuffed with players with fat contracts we dont want (Drury, Redden, Roszival). Players with fat contracts that we do want (Gaborik, Lundqvist). A couple of pleasant surprises (Prospal, Del Zotto). But by and large, the roster is littered with grinders that wouldnt fetch any sort of significant return anyway.

You can shout about making a big trade, blowing the team up, rebuilding, whatever, until youre blue in the face. It still doesnt change the reality of the situation. The franchise is really hamstrung to do anything right now.

yes we are in a tough spot but we can make changes.

we need to offer something of value. dubinsky

we need to offer something with potential value. higgins

we need to try to package something with no value. rozy

we need to package something with future value. sangs

to get back something of value. something with potential value and something of no value that may have a slighlty less punitive contract in terms or length.

either way, standing pat isnt going to do anything. time to market what we can and get back something that can change the dynamic of this team.

heres the 4 names in play imo

dubi
higgy
rozy- well not in play but needsto go the most
sanguinetti

what will that package get us ??

I'll gladly take a 3rd rounder for Higgins. Stock up on picks baby because if we don't get our **** together in the next month, lottery here we come.
