We need to rebuild

Trade Drury, Redden, Blowzival, Girardi, Gilroy, Dubinsky, for draft picks and cap space. Start over

Taylor Hall! Taylor Hall!

Keep Lundqvist but get rid of everyone else at the trade deadline, tank the rest of the season, draft in the top 5 and go from there.

We're closer to competing than you think. In two years Drury and Roszival are off the cap, Gaborik and Lundqvist will be 29. Staal will have five years of NHL experience and MDZ three. Sangs and McD will join the blue line. Stepan and Grachev will be in our line up. Callahan and Dubinsky will only be 26 and 25 years old.

Steve Mason was great last year, this year he's sporting a 3.44 GAA and .886 save percentage. I'll stick with Hank over handing the reigns to a Steve Mason look alike.

Step back from the ledge, the future isn't as bleak as you think. No need for an all out fire sale.

Alright keep Gaborik and Lundqvist, Staal, Anisimov and maybe Callahan but as far as I'm concerned anyone else can go.

I'm on the Taylor Hall Bandwagon

But.... we lose even with an elite goaltender.
So what's the difference between us and bottom 5 teams with bad goaltenders if we're not winning?
We've been losing games at a bottom 5 pace for a while now, it's not just a slump.

The teams this Ranger team resembles the most are the early 2000s Florida Panthers who had Roberto Luongo in net and drafted third overall two consecutive years. The idea that a team with an elite goaltender can't draft in the top five isn't unfounded.

Not saying I'm on the tanking bandwagon but it's not unprecedented with a top goalie.

This statement makes little sense. As of now they're a lottery team. Even with an elite goalie....

Look at what Tavares is already doing for the Piles. This franchise has not had a homegrown elite forward in my 20 plus years of being a fan. Until that changes, expect more of the garbage that we've watched this season.

100% right. Unfortunately a lot of people can't comprehend that it takes time to build a team the right way. I do believe we are only a couple years away from being very good...and I can be patient as long as the brain trust doesn't revert to their old win now at any cost ways.

we dont need to rebuild by trading gaborik and henke. by the time drury and rozsivals contract run out, staal, gilroy, mdz, dubi, cally will be entering there prime. henke and gabs will still be in their prime. our system which this site thinks is top 5 right now in terms of prospects will be pushing those players into the NHL. and 12m worth of cap space will be opened up.

The Rangers are 7-13-2 since the fast start.

Only the Canes have been worse. But the Canes have injuries and will start winning soon.

So, on the bright side we might actually have a shot at a good draft pick. Honestly that's the best thing that could happen to this franchise imo.

Any other owner would have fired Sather a long time ago. Most owners don't care how good their team that they own is. but this is beyond ridiculous.
I don't know why Sather insist on not rebuilding. It's not like the owner gives a crap what he does. And the fan base is loyal they won't disappear. What's his excuse?
At this point I think Sather is trying to prove something to someone. I don't know who and why. Just a gut feeling. He's been here just about 10 years now and he keeps constructing the team the same way.
Definition of insanity repeating the same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome.

Sather might be the worst general manager during the free agent frenzy in the entire NHL...well, at least as bad as whats his face from Montreal....when it comes to trades though, methinks there is nobody better.

its also important to remember we have a ton of youth on this team all growing together....Sather is trying to rebuild on the fly, tough to do, but not impossible. would have been sped up if he traded for Heatley for damn sure.

rebuild pitt style? not guna happen. any Ranger fan should know this.

The Rangers are The Rangers. Lets be honest.
We will never bomb for a few years to get picks. We will always be on the verge of the playoffs.. We will always have atleast one marque name so we can sell jerseys and have our superstar. When HASN'T it been like this??

On to Sather... the trade genius blah blah whatever..
ANY MAN WHO GAVE WADE REDDEN THAT CONTRACT, AND ROSIVAL, AND DRURY, AND GOMEZ (lucky to get rid).. Should not only get his head checked but should have his job threatened.. IN A SALARY CAP ERA!!!!!! Its a simple #'s game Sather... and how you use the money you have. You fail... numerous times... In comes the Messiah (Messier) **^^BEAM OF LIGHT^^** AaaAAaaAAaaHHHHHHHH

Our Goal Totals over the last 18 games:

1
1
2
2
3
1
2
7
2
2
2
3
1
4
1
1
2
1

4+ Goals Scored = 2 Games
3 Goals Scored = 2 Games
2 Goals Scored = 7 Games
1 Goal Scored = 7 Games

So that means in the last 18 games, we have scored 2 goals or less in 14 of the 18 Games!!! This isn't a 3-4 game slump here...this is almost 1/4 of the season. That isn't a slump, it is a trend.

Conclusion: We aren't good

Correct...

I can deal with the losing knowing we are going to get a decent draft pick but lets actually hit some guys.

Nobody can hit with any force on this team... Some guys like Callahan will finish checks, but he's not going to put fear into anyone. He certainly doesn't hit with the power necessary to bang someone up.

Hollweg was a joke, but people had to fear him on the ice. Brash can fight but the guy hasn't been healthy and Voros is painful to watch.
