Is Cody Franson injured?

I noticed Sulzer starting "in place of Franson" last night? Just wondering if Franson is hurt or if he was a healthy scratch.

What does Sulzer do that Franson can't do? I don't get it...

If they have any thought of trading Hamhuis they need to know if Sulzer is NHL ready.

So does having Franson sit (I've been watching him since his days as a Vancouver Giant in the WHL) help his development? The kid is a beast..let him play!

He hardly ever sits. He plays.

After watching last nights game, I think Sulzer is NHL ready, although I don't think he is as good as Hamhuis. I thought they would have sat Klein over Franson though, but I thought Klein did have a good game.

Very true. Klein had some baaaad games against the Wild last week. Mainly that goal Clutterbuck scored after he leveled Klein (who was asleep at the wheel) in which Klein gave up the puck that eventually went into the net.

Yesterday however...Klein had a great game. I do however feel it is imperative that Frason plays for his development.

Sulzer is just a kid as well so he needs to play too. Really I want Hamhuis gone by the deadline, Sulzer and Franson are ready and Hammer could bring a nice return.

Yeah, I can't remember the last time he was a healthy scratch before last night.

You can see why Franson was a second round pick when he mans the point on the power play, but the rest of his game is lacking. He doesn't move very well on the ice. He makes some really bad defensive plays. He's generally one of, if not the biggest guy (6'5", 215+ lbs.) on the ice, but he doesn't play like it very often. If he's not playing well, he'll sit.

Sulzer played okay last night, but Trotz clearly still doesn't trust him with an expanded role. 11 minutes of ice time for a defenseman is embarrassingly low. Even though he's 25 and still developing, he needs to be getting more minutes than that before we can seriously consider Hamhuis' departure a modest blow for our defense rather than a crippling one (which it would be if our defensive situation held constant through February). We also need Klein to step up and play well on a consistent basis instead of once every three or four games if we're going to consider moving Hamhuis.
