I love the description of that video.. "Owen Nolan's way of telling Ed Belfour to **** off."

I don't think you guys remember how good Ray Sheppard was. He was only on the team for 50 something games. But he was friggen awesome.

Haven't read any posts in this thread that may sway my opinion, so this is a complete gut feeling lineup (I wouldn't be surprised if I missed someone):

Marleau - Thornton - Nolan
Makarov - Larionov - Heatley
Friesen - Ricci - Grier
Cheechoo - Damphousse - Odgers

Boyle - Ragnarsson
Marchment - D. Wilson
Suter - Ozolinsh

Nabokov
Irbe

Funny no one putting Campbell in their lineup. I know why, but bad feelings aside he's not even good enough to make the Shark's (a fairly young team) all time roster? Poor Soupy.

I gotta think that Whitney and Bakes would also deserve some consideration from the old days, for their overall play and their respective playoff series winning plays.

I still think Iafrate was the best Dman we ever had, if only he'd been able to play more than 10 games a season or whatever.

I kinda miss the ol' days when we had no expectations.
That one season was so remarkable. I think we even had a parade downtown if I remember correctly.

Al "The Planet" Iafrate had such a bilstering shot ... Suter was good and so is Blake but neither are in the league of Iafrate. He would have been another consideration but he was 1) such a space cadet and 2) always hurt that it was hard to rank him ahead of a more contraversial pick like Rathje who everyone loved to hate in the day.

Wasn't he a dick? I thought he was one of the guys back then who was really bad in the locker room (I seem to recall Craig Janney being the other one). I might be completely mixing that up though.

WS, I agree The Planet shouldn't be on the list for the reasons you listed, but man when he was playing he sure changed the team. As in we could win, heh.

He's a good player in his own right, however I was more or less going by how the player performed with the Sharks, rather than how they have performed over the series of their career. (With exception to Heatley, as he has done well so far this year)

If Nabokov's not your starting goalie then you're doing it wrong

If you don't have Thornton-Ricci-Sundstrom, your lines are wrong.

Agree on all points. The Planet had a CANNON that people just got out of the way of. A little heath and even though he was kooky, he would be on this list.

I was in the building when Craig Janney came in for his first game and man what a difference he made with his passing. And Sheppard was a hell of a scorer, but both were nut jobs and weren't here long.

If I have a nut job on the team, its going to be Link Geatz

..... and thats why 15 years later I still honor Larinonov in my avi. There may have been more skilled players who have been on the team in their primes, but there has never been a team before or since that almost pulled off what the 94 Sharks did. (and look at the pass from Larionov at 1.19. Who makes that pass on this team?)
*peeks in*

lol funny thing about that pass to is that makarov isnt even on the ice when the play starts, he literally jumped off the boards and takes the pass, maybe he yelled to larionov right as he was jumping off.. or maybe... .. . maybe.. he just knew.... @_@

..ahem.....

Ive been meaning to upload it as well, but I think it was in game 7 garpenlov was also hauled down when the sharks were trying to tie it with more or less a open net and potvin down. But I guess the refs didnt give a ****. They could have at least called a dive and a trip/interference or something. But what can you do I guess... Irbe also played those playoffs with a broken foot throughout. And I think if you watch the toronto series again unlike the detroit series san jose deff was the better team. And more calls/bounces in general went against them. So they really deserved a better fate.. Oh well..

*sneaks out*

Hate to be the downer, but the 1994 team made it to the second round, not the third. We were a crossbar away from the WCF, which the 2004 team actually made. The 2004 team is the furthest we've ever been.
