I'm glad Ersberg got the win tonight, but the Kings can't be asked to score 5 or more every time he's on the ice. 3 1/2 games, a 4.10GAA and a .837SV%. I know he's got more rust than a '76 Cordoba, but he's got to cut that GAA way down.

Thank you.

For anyone who is not worried about his numbers, imagine if Quick goes down for a stretch when we're in the hunt.

If that happens for the love of god I hope they bring up Bernier and start him. Ersberg is not the same goalie from 2 years ago.

Some super great quotes on this thread. Late night and back from the game. Purcell, Kopi and Brown getting goals. Doughty took about three hits to make the play in the first. Then comes back for a great assist to Kopi and killer goal. This kid is awesome! Stoll played a great game and was on the puck a lot. Ersberg came through.

The Sharks fans were happy with their comeback then Brown comes in for an amazing goal to end the OT. Great feeling leaving the tank...i'd have to say there were a low amount of Kings fans at the game tonight.

The Kings really came back in the second after that late goal in the third by the Sharks. Really entertaining game. Happy with the game cause it was the first time I got to see my team play live this season. You guys are lucky that get to frequent Staples. Kings fans Rock!!!

Ahhh... this game was ohh so satisfying. On the down side, I don't think any of my Shark-fan neighbors will be saying hello to me in the morning for a little while.

Some things that, amazingly, haven't been pointed out yet:

1. Our crappy PK looked AWESOME. Apart from all four PKers just standing around while Marleau poked in the Sharks' lone PP goal, they were closing on the Sharks quickly and made them look uncomfortable all night.

2. PP was also hot. Looked like it picked up from where it left off against Calgary. Keep it up guys!

3. Everyone battled HARD for the puck. Even Drew Remenda had to give props to the Kings for contesting every puck, loose and otherwise.

4. Doughty is THIS close to becoming a truly dominant defenseman (unfortunately, you can't see my accompanying hand gesture).

5. While Simmonds and Parse looked great again, they finally weren't needed on the scoresheet. Poor Zeus, on the other hand, had a real tough time staying out of the penalty box.

6. Completely un(der)-appreciated stat at HF: Dustin Brown has led the league in penalty plus/minus for the past two years and is leading the league again this season, and was +3 on penalties tonight (drew another four and took one). He deserved one of the three stars.

Yeah no one has really mentioned our PK tonight. It was pretty damn impressive. I think we're starting to get the hang of it. That 4on3 to 5on3 to 5on4 kill in the 2nd was HUGE.

GO KINGS!!!!

You guys are so lucky to have the Kings stream
I had the Sharks stream.......
One guy had real hockey knowledge.... but the other one..........
Everything good was Sharks made.. even if a King did bad.
A Shark forced that error....

The last comment made me laugh so hard.......
He was really pissed off and said on Browns goal.... this puck had no rights to go into the net........
That saved my day......

I really enjoy the sharks broadcasters, I think they are fair and they always seem to have something good to say about the kings.

Came here to post this. Great win, especially given the circumstances, but we cannot be giving up so many goals and expecting our offense to pull us out, especially given our recent drought that just happened to be ended the night we suddenly needed it most. Veteran performance, but shouldn't be necessary.

he played well considering the situation. to be sitting for a month, then get thrown in against SJ is a situation that is made for extreme failure to happen. But he made some big saves to keep the team in it....

There's still some bugs in the system (Ivanans...Kompon and possibly Purcell - though the latter I think needs a change of scenery) that need to be taken care of... Other than that...there's not too much to complain about... We're winning despite them...

People have been waiting for "that" Purcell to show up all year and when he does you still think he's one of the bugs in the system? If he can keep bringing it like he did tonight he'll be a big part of this team.

Purcell's been taking quite a beating on these boards lately. I think tonight he may have earned a little reprieve. Even if it's just for a night. If you have anything negative to say after his performance tonight you're just someone who lives to complain.

This is absolutely right. Those last two goals shouldn't have gone in. But it's incredibly tough to be on top of your game when you only play once every three weeks. Remember that game a while back when Quick let in three of those Malhotra shots in a row? Or any of the other half dozen games when he's let in 1-2 soft ones? But, of course, it's easy to right the ship when you're thrown right back in there...Ersberg's never been given that opportunity.

Anyone see that Devils game last night? Marty Brodeur let in a couple of really ****** goals...for that matter, did anyone see the OT winner that Nabokov let in last night? Even good goalies let in bad goals...however, those bad goals are magnified when you play as infrequently as Ersberg does; and, no matter how much TM wants it, the idea that Ersberg will be able to just step off the bench after sitting idle for a month with no ill effects is unrealistic.

Seconded. Randy Hahn and Drew Remenda are great. Always fun to listen to and provide some of the more balanced analysis that you'll find in the NHL.

Last night, I especially liked Hahn's sarcastic "That was vicious" on reviewing the Jarret Stoll cross-checking penalty.

Ya because that's what he does if he misses making a big hit or if he just dodged someone whose gunning for him.

... Perhaps because I don't see things that aren't there in the first place? Seriously, I ask a very legit question in response to someone saying "not enough can be said about how much he means to this team", and I get two mostly condescending sentences containing zero examples of this meaningful play he was supposed to have been providing. Williams had four shots on goal -- that's great, so did Purcell in half the ice time, with worse linemates. Williams had a shift on the PK, during which he stood around waiting for a whistle while the Sharks scored. It would be one thing if I could find that in fact there was more to Williams than the raw numbers; if I could see that he was being closely checked and bodied, carrying defenders around while he has the puck, but that's not happening either because the checking attention goes to his linemates. Even without the checking attention, he's shaky with the puck and imprecise when dishing or receiving passes. Nobody on that top line gets more open ice and does less with it than Justin Williams. The man is a solid second or third line winger masquerading as a first liner, and what baffles me is that there are people unwilling to call a spade a spade and admit this.

I didn't want Ersberg playing in San Jose to begin with, and it's not a stretch to believe given Nabokov's dreadful performance last night that the Kings would have had the win in regulation if Quick were in net. Giving the Sharks a pity point isn't ideal, but as you said a win is a win, and Ersberg got us that.

I really think folks need to get the idea of Bernier being called up out of their head. DL wants Bernier to try to win the Monarchs a Calder Cup this year. If he's considering calling up anyone (and I don't think he is), it's more likely to be Zatkoff. Zatkoff has great #'s in Manchester and is serving as the backup there now.

Ersberg can play well... we've seen it before many times, but TM has got to get him in more games.
