GONG SHOW!

Ok I'm going to wait to see how this plays out before I go chosen on everything, but this makes zero sense what so ever if Gilroy was sent down because he needed to be taught a lesson.

Lose the player ? This isn't NHL 10. He is a waivers exempt player. You guys will keep him.

Lets see...send down a rookie defensemen who has played well overall with a few bumps in the road to save 1.7 million prorated in cap space

or

Send down either Rosival or Redden, who both suck royally and make a ***** more money.

29 out of 30 GM's would chose the latter but we have the best GM in the business and how so much more knowledge the foolish fans.

Are you ****ing kidding me???

Leader in +/- for Dmen. ROOKIE and a leader in goals for Dmen.

He makes ONE mistake and Tortorella sends him down?

FIRE ****ING TORTORELLA.

This team is UN-WATCHABLE.

Fire Sather. Fire Tortorella.

I'm sick and tired of this ****.

Why should this joke organization continue to get MY hard-earned money and MY time?

I'm on the verge of boycott.

Very surprised considering Torts quotes on Zipays blog saying that no d-man in the minors has played well enough to really make him keep him in the NHL. There is a trade happening. I have no doubt.

Accountability ala Torts is really awesome, isnt it?

No rhyme of reason, really.

Sending a young defenseman to the minors whose had a relatively solid season thus far is quite a way to send a message.

If a trade is made in the near future that justifies this really strange move, Ill eat my ****ing hat.

Is this really a surprise? Was Gilroy supposed to play all 82 games this season? The season is long, he needs to accustom to the NHL, no one said it would be in one stint. He's played 30 games already, the most he's ever played in BU was 45 last season. No need to rush him. I'm not sure this is a direct consequence for last night goal. On the other side, Heikkinen looked solid in these two games, this offers a good alternative... Ok let's do it and see what occurs.

But then, yeah something else might be brewing...

Who gives a ****. In the grand scheme of things Gilroy has been mediocre, like most of the defenseman.

It's like arguing that he's been the prettiest turd in the bunch

Right now this is a ****** group of players and one ****** player or another doesn't really matter

Yes.

And considering this group of D-men, yes again.

Maybe a trade is coming, but I really think its Torts call. He wants more muscle on the blueline, so Gilroy pays the price for getting Heik back in the fold

If there's a trade lets hope Glen doesn't screw up and sell the farm for some average player.

No, I'm just saying, that would be why your source may have misinformed, everyone thought it was done.

Why is everyone acting like this is the first time that Gilroy has been beaten on the rush? This is a recurring trend for him.

Asides from last night, it happened on the OT goal at Montreal and Matt Bradley flew right by him during that Caps game at the Garden. Also, Gilroy was one of the 4 players standing around in the crease doing nothing during Chicago's PP goal.

If sending him down will teach him how to take a forward out of the play, then I'm all for it. It is not out of the ordinary for a rookie defenseman to be sent down.

what's wrong with this... we get to see another rookie step in, in Heikkinen who is the same age as Gilroy. Plus Heikkinen seems to be a little more physical, and he is also an offensive dman.

I don't see why everybody is getting their panties in a bunch. Torts has sees that our defense is a weak link and maybe Heikkinen (who has SM-Liga experience) can improve our d corps. Demoting Rosy is out of the question for many reasons. And Gilroy has a high cap hit for not adding all that much.

In fact I think this move makes perfect sense.

Because people want Rozsival (who played pretty well last night I think) to be sent down instead.

Yeah, I'm not as against this as others in this thread. Gilroy has been decent but he is a rookie and it really showed on that GWG last night by 'Fugs. His cap hit is pretty large, too.

That being said, Rozy needs to go next and stay there. This team needs to move on without him a la Nylander in Washington.

Its a formula that deals with NHL games played, years pro, and age when he signed his first pro contract. One-way or two-way has NO RELEVANCE TO WAIVERS. Most people on two way contracts haven't met the qualifications to be put on waivers but that has nothing to do with the fact they are on two ways.

I think this is not about punishing Gilroy. It's about preparing for a trade, or as xsniper11x wrote, showcasing someone that shall be involved in that trade.
But honestly, imho it doesn't make sense to tweak this team as long as there are these handcuffs called "Drury" and "Roszival"...."Redden" is about to transform from a handcuff to a hockey player.....
