(Atlanta) What would it take to get Carter?

If Atlanta offered Pavelec, what else would they have to add to get Jeff Carter?

Or, what would be your ideal trade between PHI and ATL with Pavelec as the first piece.

In the end, it might be foolish for Atlanta to trade with a team that could knock them out of a playoff spot if they are improved by the trade...but it could help both teams go up the standings.

Pavelec and Carter are never going to be in the same trade, Flyers probably won't offer much for Pavelec unless you guys want Coburn back.

I doubt Carter gets moved, especially if Lavi motivates him to play harder.

Beyond that, how do we know that Pavelec is the guy who will help us win? We need our scorers to score. If anything, who do you want along with Carter for Kovalchuk?

My thoughts exactly. The only move with Atlanta involving Carter should have Kovalchuk coming back, but that is just a dream...not gonna happen.

Honestly, I think people are making more of the goalie situation in Philly. I dont think that is the problem. We need another scorer, and pressure taken off kids like Giroux and JVR. I was ok with letting the likes of Lupul, Knuble, Upshall, and Umberger go, but maybe it has finally hit us....we need scoring help....a sniper. (plus, we miss Gagne even though we should be used to that by now)

I have no idea what a package would look like, but Bogosian would be a good start.

Shoulda clarified.... I have no idea what an Atlanta package would look like.. wait, let me try that again.

If Atlanta wants to trade for Jeff Carter, please start the deal with Bogosian.

Zach Bogosian and Rich Peverly for Carter

or

Bogosian and Kane for Carter

or

Kovalchuk, Bogosian and Kane for Carter and Coburn

I never know how you're are going to take Vals, 2 cents on your comments.

I'm waiting for you to have one of those off/bad days where you lose your cool on him..

I think the problem with trying to get Carter right now is that he is the leading scorer on a team that is struggling to score. So any trade that makes sense for Philly is going to have to involve offense coming back and it's not very likely that we can pry Kovalchuk from your grasp so long as there is breath in your bodies, and Rich Peverely isn't someone that is getting traded with the deal he signed. I think the organization wouldn't necessarily mind Ray Emery sticking around for a few years, so Pavelec might not be worth as much to the Flyers as he is to ATL.

It seems to me like that both teams wouldn't be willing to give up what they would have to in order to get what they wanted from the other. I would happily do Carter + for Kovalchuk if we knew we could sign him and make our cap work, but I don't think that is possible (and the Flyers aren't known for their plethora of Russian alumni).

How about Carter and Coburn for Peverley and Enstrom. Sounds like a good deal.

Peverley doesn't have that kind of value. He's been great over the last year and a half. But it's not enough. And his age doesn't thrill me

1 of Little or Kane
1 of Enstrom or Bogosian
picks

The other reason is that Peverley still has an extra 2 or 3 years on his contract. And he's also for very cheap. His age is nothing right now in terms of his current skill and pay.
