Reffing has been horrific in this game for both teams.
Too bad...this usually is a good game.
Apparently they like seeing 15 second powerplays. Talk about skewing team stats. They should start recording PP and PK% by minutes played, not opportunites. 15 seconds on the PP shouldn't equate to 2 minutes on the PP statistically.
The Ducks have probably been on the PP for 1 minute or so, and yet they're 0-2 on the PP.
I think the ref's were checking to see if the puck had crossed the line because, since Ericsson touched it last..it would've counted. Instead, Ericsson with a beauty of a sweep save. Nice job.
Ref's wanting to make an impression on this game.....and not a good one at that.
I'm gonna post this question here too if someone knows better.
Can you get a goal with a penalty coming to you? Parros swipes the puck towards the net and then tangles with Howard resulting in a penalty but the Ducks did not have possession after the penalty was taken so if it goes in it should count, no? It counts if the team getting the pp puts it in their own net when the goalie is pulled..
Maybe that's what they were checking.
Clear no-goal but would explain checking the footage in the first place.

Yep, teams have scored in their own empty cage on a delayed penalty (where the offending team never gained possession). In fact, I think it happened in a Detroit/Anaheim game a few years ago. Shanahan got credit for someone (Oates?) inadvertantly tossing it all the way back into his own net.
Not if they have to touch it to score, though, of course. Even if it's just a tap-in.

Good question. the online NHL rulebook doesn't adress the case. It does say you can't score while you're on a delayed offsides call.. so... I dunno.
(xi) During the delayed calling of a penalty, the offending team cannot score unless the non-offending team shoots the puck into their own net. This shall mean that a deflection off an offending player or goalkeeper, or any physical action by an offending player that may cause the puck to enter the non-offending team’s goal, shall not be considered a legal goal. Play shall be stopped before the puck enters the net (whenever possible) and the signaled penalty assessed to the offending team.
Our bottom six has brought the lion's share of the sustained offensive zone pressure and cycle game for weeks. If only they could finish more, but they're doing a great job. Top six is a non-entity.

The 1st line needs to step up now that Hank and Datsyuk are together. I consider the second line to be the lame duck - they take shifts against the better competition so the 3rd line can do some damage against lesser competition.

the last goal by the wings was an empty-netter by sniper kris draper 5 periods ago.
