Vinny has been playing awful and has the worst contract ever for his current level of play

If by Vinny Lecavalier you mean Vinny Lecavalier, Steve Stamkos, Victor Hedman, and a 1st...something along those lines.

These two alone are worth more individually than that entire package...

To Chicago: Braydon Coburn, Scott Hartnell
To Philadelphia: Cam Barker, Patrick Sharp

Now, I realize that Hartnell has a no trade clause, but I think this really shakes up the team and Sharp has shown in the past that he and Carter have chemistry together (the Phantoms playoff run when they won the championship). It's a trade of two 30 goal scorers and two young defenders who maybe just need a change of scenery to get their games back on track.

I just went from 6 to 12.

Koivu would be the perfect 3rd line center for this team. Post-lockout nhl does not agree with the Flyers obviously, so Koivu's discipline and veteranship can definitely help.

This worked on NHL10 today.

Coburn, Hartnell, Matsumoto for Nabokov and Pavelski.

I am expecting a desperation move. The Flyers have never had patience. I see Giroux or JVR getting traded for an unproven goalie or old veteran ...plus the obligatory second round pick of course. It doesn't seem like goaltending is the problem at the moment - more like a lack of offense. They ought to just weather the storm.

Bad trade

Doesn't save Hawks any cap space (In fact Sharp has more value as offseason trade then Hartnell would) and I would rather have Sharp over Hartnell

Sharp is more versatile and a better goal scorer

I would like to be able to get something done with Coburn/Barker

Barker is making $3,500,000 right? Don't think the Flyers can absorb that without making the deal bigger.

here's another one that I was thinking about (God help me because I know I'm going to get flamed)

To Carolina: Jeff Carter, Braydon Coburn, Jon Matsumoto
To Philadelphia: Eric Staal, Andrew Alberts, Zac Dalpe

Flyers take on a bit more salary, but the shake up that this franchise would undergo might just be something that's needed and get everyone back on track. It sends a message that nobody can take their positions for granted.

For those willing to trade Hartnell or JVR, why?

We currently have a log jam at center and we have seen that both Carter and Giroux's play suffers when they are moved to the wing. So for me, when it comes to our centers of Richards, Carter, Giroux, I'd rather have Richards and Giroux as they are more traditional, skating and play-making centerman. Carter needs the puck to be successful, he is a goal scorer, but one who skates the length and gets a shot off. He needs guys who can get him the puck in the neutral zone and then maybe follow up by crashing the net, but our team isn't built like that.

He also doesn't have a NTC. I think he makes the most sense to move, as long as we get properly compensated.

I would be in favor of a trade involving Bobby Ryan, and I'd probably collapse if we somehow landed Kovalchuk.

Are most of you on hard drugs?

Realize now that any trades will have to be salary dumps, and there is little point in trying to get someone like Bobby Ryan, who's value is going to get jacked up when his rookie contract expires. We can't take that on.

Simultaneously, we can't afford 5mil+/year players.

Hartnell doesn't seem likely to go anywhere. Carter is a definite possibility.

Really, the people who, in being moved, would be most beneficial to the team, are also the least likely to be moved, because of the way Homer structured their contracts (Briere and Timonen, for example).

Short of getting the NTC/NMC people to agree to waive their clauses (which may be more feasible is we continue to suck in a major way), there are no good fixes. Bringing in known superstars who are already overpaid, or up and coming rooks who will see massive salary increases, is completely useless to us.

We need to find diamond in the rough players who are currently underpaid, who will succeed in whatever system Lavi will put in place, etc. Otherwise, we're screwed.

For example, Briere has an annual cap hit of 6.5 mil, we could have two players who may be 30-40 point scorers for 3 or 3.25 mil a piece. Ideally, they'd also be better than Briere defensively. that's the kind of thing we need to be looking for in players, not some of the nonsense being spouted off here.

Regards,
Rick
