Evan Oberg(i think thats his last name) has signed a contract, he is a D man and its been announced on the FA signing thread in prospect signings and it has not appeared here so I'm just helping you out.
It's actually in the 2nd post, happened during the season so it's with those items. I'm going to just keep the first post relevant to whatever is going on now so it doesn't get too cluttered up.
is the signing of sergei actually coming from a reliable source?
His KHL team told the Russian media he'd signed a two year two-way deal with Vancouver at $850,000 per. Gillis confirmed that they had "agreed to a deal in principle", though that would imply he has yet to put pen to paper.
I could use some help over the next few months. Internet access is going to be limited so I can't be on top of things as I normally would be and with it being the busy time of the off-season I'd probably miss a few things while trying to play catch-up. So if the Canucks do something, could someone just post it in this thread?
I just need the news source, link to HF thread and preferably the details if it isn't obvious. Then whenever I get a chance I'll scan the thread and just add things that are missing. I'll just make a note in the first post stating which post # I'm caught up to.
For what it's worth, canucks signed mike funk out of buffalo (2nd rounder in 04 I think). I have no official source to confirm this other than a text message from him to someone I know. I will see if I can get more concrete info. Apparently it was done yesterday.

does predicting a depth signing 3 days before it happens give me crazy HF cred?
Gives you more credibility than 99.9% of the people on here who make 'predictions.' Get another one right and you can make your own site and rank possible moves out of 5.

There is actually 1 thing you could complain about though. I'll have it fixed when I get home.
my comment has to more to do with being petty. when it comes to "released as UFA" Artum Chuborov left this organization about 5 years ago and his playing rights ended--so he was not released. When it comes to players who contracts end and they become UFA they are not really released--they were either offered a contract or they were not--wouldn't it be more acurate to say "became Unrestricted free agent"

Yeah it would. I'm going to keep the 'Released' in the first section though as it's concise. I'll change the comments however.
He'll probably get in the same range he's signed to right now ~$3,500,000. Depends on where he signs though and how he finishes off the season. His career high in goals is 3 and he's got 2 already. If he gets a few more he use that as well. If he signs with Vancouver he'd probably go for around $3,250,000, free agency ~3,500,000 to $4,000,000.

Not sure where to put this bit of news, but apparently Gillis has signed a new NCAA and major junior scout - Dan Palango.
Quote:
Good luck to former player agent Dan Palango who has left the agent business to join his former partner Mike Gillis in Vancouver. Palango will primarily scout NCAA and major junior for the Canucks. He represented several NHL players including B.J. Crombeen, Chris Campoli, Byron Bitz, Brian McGrattan, and Jamie Benn.
Gillis really likes the NCAA route it seems, drafting heavily from it, adding scouts to that area.
He's drafted exactly 4 players from the NCAA in two drafts. Connauton didn't stick around with WMU and moved to the Giants with encouragement from the Canucks.
I'm not sure that Gillis has shown any sort of drafing preference.
