Those are the kinds of players the whole league is looking for. And two players getting half of Briere's production and each making half his salary are only good if they're doing it in half his minutes, which is hard to find.

Tweet from Philabright: Garrioch from the Ottawa Sun is reporting that the Flyers have interest in Marty Turco and that Jeff Carter has popped up in trade rumours.

----

Garrioch is not someone I really trust but I will flip out if Holmgren makes a desperation trade for Turco. He's 34 ad has a 5.7 million dollar contract, this being his final season of the contract.

We better get more for Carter than Marty ****ing Turco. I went and saw the fricking Coyotes offense rip him up this year.

Yeh but consider that Turco would end up taking a 1.5-2.5m dollar paycut after this year on a 2-3 year deal. It would not be a terrible deal if he re-signed.

Do players sense a trade may be coming?

“I think so,” Laperriere said. “But what can you do? The only thing that is going to stop this bleeding is winning. We know that. We have a great bunch of guys in this room, but it’s business. A winning business. And if you lose, change is coming. You don’t want to see that.

“We need to win. We need to get confidence back. There’s no lack of working hard here, but sometimes I think there is a difference between working hard and working smart ... We need to get the confidence back to win. … I didn’t come here to lose.”

Danny Briere said the players know they are running out of time before someone gets traded.

“If we don’t wake up, we know it’s going to happen,” Briere said. “It’s never fun to see what happened a week ago with the new coach. Up until [Saturday], I thought we played desperate hockey.”

Turco inquiries
Several sources say the Flyers have made inquiries into the future availability of Dallas goalie Marty Turco, who will be unrestricted after this season. Turco is still the starter in goal and has a whopping $5.7 million cap hit. The Flyers could not possibly acquire him without moving similar salary, but could swing it at the trade deadline if the Stars are out of playoff contention. Of course, the Flyers could be out of it, as well, if they don’t turn things around now. The Stars are looking for a top defenseman and again, the Flyers aren’t going to part with Kimmo Timonen or Chris Pronger, so this doesn’t make a lot of sense from the outside. What the Flyers need most right now is scoring help.

If your last name begins with a C, you're probably able to be traded:
Cote
Carcillo
Coburn
Carle
Carter

Anybody else?

And let's be honest, we could probably get something nice in return for Carle. Plus he has a nice chunk of a cap hit.

Glennie or Neal better be part of that package was well, and maybe Niskanen.

Wrong again. You dont add anything to the original post you made from our side.

It will look like this:

Carter
Emery
Coburn

for

Turco
Eriksson
Neal/Glennie
Niskanen

We might even be able to do that if you take out Emery.

I know a healthy Emery could really help them while Turco is gone. I'd rather take Neal, since he is in the NHL and doing very well.

Neal or Glennie would do just fine.

Neal is by far their top prospect and yea I would probably take him as well.

It might give us a chance for people who do score as well, such as Neal and Eriksson.

this place is as bad as other boards everyone ***** on.

that is the most homer-riffic trade proposal ever.

a top tier goalie and 2 of their top tier prospects for our emery, poor playing coburn, and slumping, cheechoo-esque jeff carter?

The guy can single handedly win games without the defense being there night in and night out AND he is better than Turco.

Pycckuu, the Sharks are more in the hole though than we are when it comes to cap, and also, the Stars have more low costing, higher scoring players than the Sharks.

nabokov is a scrub in the playoffs and goes through severe bouts of inconsistency.. you don't know what you're getting either way.

although i think turco would do wonders for the locker room.

The franchise should stand pat and not do anything just yet. They just replaced the coach and it's going to take about ten games for Laviolette's system to be fully implemented. The last thing Holmgren or anyone needs to do is start panicking and making deals just for the sake of making deals. Let Laviolette have a chance to get his system in place, see who he thinks will be or won't be a good fit, and then go from there. A couple of wins a row should quell all this talk. It's like someone said, two wins and this team is back in the thick of things. No sense in making any blockbuster deals when it's just two wins back.

Puke. Nabokov couldn't win a playoff round if his life depended on it. Even Emery has been to a Cup final and has done better in the playoffs.

I don't think it's a big change that needs to be made. All this over reacting. The Flyers are 30 games into the season. There's still 52 remaining. It's possible that in the final 52 games, they win 35. People just need to be patient and give Laviolette a chance to get his system into place. It usually takes about 10 games when a new coach gets hired for changes to be fully implemented. If the Flyers win a game or two along the way, great. But all of this talk about Turco, Nabokov, Halak, and what it will take to acquire one of them is ludicrous.

The best reason I see to go for Turco is that we could maybe also pull off getting Neal and Eriksson in the trade.

If it were up to me, if the Stars were interested in both Coburn and Carter, I would automatically trade them for Turco Eriksson and Neal, IF we could get that.

I would mind throwing in a Emery or a pick to help them out. I would be happy if we could get turco and Neal in the same package.

Jeff Carter is awesome and well worth his $5.

Marty Turco sucks and is not worth his $5.7

If Homer was even thinking that, I would hope Snider would step in and fire him immediately.

This same team started 12-5-1, we dont need to BLOW IT UP. We need to let Laviolette figure it out and move a player or two to freshen it up.

We get Gagne back soon and it should change a few things. The same benefit as trading a pick for a 70+ point player if you think about it. Also lets us strengthen the 3rd line by moving JVR down. Maybe even do something like

Gagne-Richards-Pyorala
Hartnell-Carter-Briere
JVR-Giroux-Asham
Carcillo-Kalinski(I miss Betts)-Lappy

Let's be real for a second. The Sharks are not going to let Nabokov walk.
