Seems like Kiprusoff might be more hungry for the Stanley Cup than Olympic gold - looking at the competition in the Olympics I'd say the chances are probably better for a Stanley Cup .

Kipper is clearly the best choice for number one, but after it there are some things to consider:

Do we need Backström if we have Kipper? We would if we wouldn't have Kipper, but with Kipper here we already have a clear starter, so Niittymäki could easily take the role of the back-up as he has already shown how he can play in Olympics.

The third one should be someone young just to get him in the national team atmosphere.

So my first choice would be:

Kipper
Niittymäki
Rask/Rinne

Without Kipper it would be:

Bäckström
Niittymäki
Rask/Rinne

I could even be ready to try this:

Niittymäki
Rinne/Rask
Rask/Rinne

Kipper
Niittymäki
Rask

Kipper, with his play recently, is the best we got.

Niittymäki I think is a safer bet for #2 at this point.

I want to see Rask in Vancouver, he's going to be the backbone of our national team in the future, might as well let him start learning everything early on.

Where do you guys think Kari Lehtonen would fit in the mix if he were healthy? I know its an odd question considering his injury history. Just would like to see peoples' opinions.

Reserve by default.

Kiprusoff - Bäckström - Niittymäki/Rinne - Rask - Lehtonen (when he comes back) - Niemi. That's the reality at the moment.

Completely healthy Lehtonen however... I'd say he is our 3rd string what comes to goalie talent.

So, still a backup to Kipper and/or Bäckström, but would definitely battle it out with the likes of Rinne and Niittymäki.

Despite being the MVP in last Olympics, I wouldn't pick Niittymäki on the team. You never know which Niittymäki you're going to get; the one that doesn't make the saves, or the one that is as good as anyone in the league. We have more consistent goalies available.

That we do, Kiprusoff and Bäckström. The rest like Rinne and Rask still have a little more to do to truly prove their mettle, while they've definitely shown great promise.

But eh, do we really have to debate who is our number #3? I think Kiprusoff and Bäckström are everyone's preferred tandem. Well, save for those who go all emotional and hate Kipper for his guts.
