Well that absolutely sucks. Team Russia could have had the best roster they've had in years this season....On a positive note, Klementyev in camp? I thought mega jerk Garth Snow wasn't letting him go.
Basically the Defense - Chudinov, Zaitsev, Orlov, Kostromitin, Klementyev, Pivtsakin. A little thin without Voynov, Kulikov.
Despite the omissions up front, the forwards should be interesting with Filatov, Tarasenko, Petrov etc...
I am unsure why Kabanov was left off, was it something to do with him coming to the CHL and Moncton? If Kitsyn was on the list same with Burmitstrov, then why not Kabanov.. he is ranked higher than the 2 names mentioned.
From Russia's perspective, Kabanov is ineligible due to his "breaking his contract" with the KHL . He would probably have been on the U18 team if he was healthy. He recently had surgery and is out for a couple more months.
Lateral move, as Bobkov and Sadikov are arguably 1 and 2, just got to figure out who's who.
I'm not sure it's that a "lock" type situation. Bobkov is a sure kick-in, but IMHO Pechursky can win a spot with a good training camp, he's older and more experienced than these other two guys. I think that the Lada guy has no chance.
How come Grachev and Voinov are not "allowed" to play? They are playing in AHL and normally AHL teams release their players to WJC. What makes the case of Voinov and Grachev different?

that their respective ahl teams wouldn't let them go, or most likely the NHL teams that have the rights for them

Yes, but isn't this unusual? Normally AHL players are allowed to play in the WJC. For example Tomas Tatar of Slovakia who plays for Detroit's farm club was released to play. I find it strange that two Russian players suddenly were not allowed to play.
Kings have bad experiences from previous year from letting players go to WJC and Voinov I think is top 2 d-man on his team and Grachev could also be on the verge of getting called up. Tatar for example isn't a key player on his AHL team and anywhere close to getting called up.

I agree, I'd have picked up Avtsin and maybe also Nikontsev (great skating and very good hands) instead of another couple of players. But on Plyuschev's side we have to admit that we have enough scoring line players and maybe we lack a bit of defensive play - especially considering that our top 2 centers are 1992 and Burmistrov is really small sized
Plyushev just cut Yr'ev (a good thing) Kugryshev ( I am shocked as he looked really good during the subway series) and Fisenko (while nothing special but 1 of only 3 centers on the team) I am kinda surprised.

Exactly, Kugryshev has been lights out in the Q the last 10 games or so. Look at his stats and keep in mind that he went the first 5 games without a point.
It must be hard being cut at 19 when you made it at 18. Does someone know the reason why Kugryshev was kept out of the team? I hope his attitude on the ice won't be affected. I guess he'll play tomorrow for Quebec...

Well, this year's roster has several talented younger forwards that are projected to be high picks (Kuznetsov, Tarasenko, Kitsin, Burmistrov, Telegin). There are also some emerging late bloomers such as Vyacheslav Kulemin and Maxim Trunev.
Depth on this team is strong, although most of the top players just turned 18 (I believe Kuznetsov is still 17).

This guy actually played when he was 17 too. It's just a shame because he has been really playing well lately and he is a quick little winger with sweet stick handling ability.
