I'd hate to see Pleks go after the way he's played this season. But I don't think I could turn down a shot at Carter, as he's exactly the type of player we've sadly needed for years.
I can easily see Philly blow up their team if their underacheiving continues. They have a divided lockeroom by all accounts with the young kids partying way too much at night (sound familiar) and older players i.e. Pronger not wanting to step up and say anything because the captain (Richards) is one of the guys partying.
It's easy to see they need some changes and with guys like Briere and Gagne having long expensive contracts and a history of injuries it's going to be really hard for them to trade them away. That leaves the younger core of players that are likely to be coveted and get the most return which will not be Halak alone.
To pry away one of the younger players like Carter, JVR, Coburn etc. you're going to still have to give to get. The divided dressing room only opens the doors for a trade to happen but I think the asking price will still be steep. It's extremely rare that a team will pull a Thornton to San Jose type trade especially in the post cap NHL.
So for us to get one of their better players we'll probably haveto wait till closer to the deadline unless something gives sooner. Even at that, we'd have to be in the hunt and they'd have to be near the bottom of the division.
Do you ever sleep?
Could a Plek + D'ago deal be done for Carter?
Wouldn't do it but an interesting proposal.
I'm old, so I don't need that much sleep.
I think it depends on whether Holmgren feels he needs a goalie to replace Emery while he's injured. Most Flyer fans will tell you that goaltending isn't the problem. They are more concerned with their offense at the moment.
If that's the case, I could see them being more likely to accept a deal with D'agostini included instead of Halak.

I doubt they make a move before the holidays(trade freeze) I'm sure they wanna see Leighton in action 1st.
Also D'agostini isn't going to solve any of the Flyers problems(offensively) IMO,anyways let's wait and see what Gainey has up his sleeves
I'd say no. As much as I like Carcillo, I don't like the idea of seeing Gorges go. Young defenseman that is responsible, can log a ton of minutes and could be part of our future.
