EKLUND: Flyers on the brink of pulling trigger on MAJOR deal

per eklund....

Quote:
UPDATE From a source..."The teams most likely to deal with the Flyers are Atlanta, Tampa, Carolina, and Los Angeles."

There are rumors abounding that the Flyers are on the brink of pulling the trigger on a major deal. There are teams out there telling me that they have had discussions with the Flyers and the Flyers are "by far the most aggressive team right now."

Yay, timed to get ripped off! sigh...

(I secretly do hope it is Kovalchuk... highly doubt it though)

I would give up anyone on the Flyers minus Mike Richards and Claude Giroux for Kovalchuk.

Its nothing

Homer is probably at the Cherry Hill Mall doing his holiday shopping. Not making trades.

God I hope not, you just brought in a new coach...Give him a chance with the players that are here

If they have to now go and make another major deal after the Pronger deal, Homer needs to be fired instantly!

Like mentioned in another thread, the reason teams like Detroit and NJ have won multiple cups is because they have built teams the right way.....The teams dont completely change over every 2-3 years.

This team hasnt won because it has a win now at all costs mentality which didnt work before and certainly doesnt work now with the cap

You already have turned over Umberger, Lupul, Upshall, Downie, Smith, Hatcher, Knuble, Biron, Nitty in the past couple seasons.....ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

well its a catch22 with Holmgren. He must know his job is on the line with whats going on with this team. he put this team together. This was supposed to be a Cup contender, not a team fighting to stay in the playoff race.
What do you do? wait for a few weeks and see if our so called best players pull their heads out their ass or do you make a major deal to wake the team up for whatever is ailing them.

gagne, betts, powe from IR

kalinski, nodl to the phantoms

This is the only roster movement i want to see. If they just would have fired stevens in the off season, we wouldn't be having this problem. Now they are hurt, and adjusting to a new system on the fly, and unfortunately not during the crazy 10 day breaks we were having in the schedule. If they trade giroux for goaltending help I will not buy another ticket this year.

Your suggestion is the proper road to take. Any deal now and not only does the team get fleeced, but it also continues roster instability.

What "Eklund" (what is his real name, what disrespect to Pelle Eklund) does to find rumors:

1. What team is struggling?
2. How are they struggling - defensively, offensively, goalie?
3. What players were once in talks (within 2 years) of being moved?
4. Read HFBoards for trade proposals from 14 year old idiots
5. Come up with a trade rumor that is complete ********, but has just enough truth in it for people to believe

There should be a rule with rumours: if it's Eklund, you have to post that in the headline so no one needs to click on it.

Kovalchuk is the only guy I am even remotely interesting in.

LeCav is overpaid. Staal is overpaid. Both are underperforming.

Kovalchuk is a game-changer, and a winger.

Even though I do agree about the whole we would get fleeced thing (which we would) I do think a change needs to be made. How many more games can we get killed by. Like we keep saying lets wait for our star players, but as we are waiting, we are losing 4-1, 8-2, 6-1, 2-0. As much as I like to see us get *****, we kinda need to start winning games.

Cue the next round of NHL10 trades proposals...

To Flyers:
Frolov
Johnson

To Kings:
Hartnell
Coburn

Change of scenery shake-up trade that will never happen. Thus ends my contribution to the 8 weeks of insanity around here.

Awesome, lets do it!! Except we need to keep Giroux, for reasons previously mentioned!
