If we're going after someone on the Hawks I want Sharp. Only costs .900 more, and he'd instantly be a huge part of our top 6.

I am sure that Chicago would not trade with us unfortunately. He would be a upgrade on JFJ on the second line but its not happening due to the fact that Edmonton is a potential opponent in the playoffs for Chicago. When Chicago decides to unload salary my money is on them doing it with a eastern team.

Dumb question, but what kind of game does Byfuglien play? With the amount of good players on tht team, screws me up.

To be fair, there are players in the pipe (Chris Vande Velde in particular, Riley Nash if he fails to develop) that very likely make O'Marra expendable, but I have hopes for the kid.

Forget "Big Buff" Let's get Patrick Sharp, that's who we should be targeting, the problem is that both teams are pretty much in cap hell so the salaries would have to even out so Chicago will only to a trade with us is it's for prospects and picks.
I wonder who we have in our prospect pool that Chicago would be interested in besides MPS and Eberle?
In any event, Sharp is the guy who we should be targeting, he's a much more versatile and explosive player than Byfuglien

Hartnell Would be a easier target to get right now and he is better then Buff anyways. Word has it that with Philly in a tailspin that Hartnell could be on the block. We could trade Cogliano and a Dman for Hartnell + depending on the Dmen.

The top six would look like this

Penner-Gagner-Brule
Hartnell-Horcoff-O'sullivan

Sharp is a pipe dream. At 3.9 he actually has a good contract. They have plenty of tradeable players in the 2.5-3.5 range that have average contracts that I'm sure they will be worth and Byfuglien is a perfect example. I'd love to see him here, the guy really brings a ton of intangibles.

Well Dustin is at 3mill and I think his over paid for what he does(shocker I know)

I also fallow the hawks and I think his stats are soft and that they more reflect the players he has played with and not his own talent

i love to see behemoth byfulglien an oiler...unfortunately i doubt chicago wants anything we have...POS has the least trade value on the team...even row-bear has now surpassed him with his solid play of late...POS has less heart than lupul did when he was here..

I have to say I don't really see what the big deal is about this guy. Alright, he's a big body and a banger but he also hasn't broken the 25 goal mark, not in junior, not in the A, not in the NHL. If he's a replacement on the third line, great. But at a $3 million cap hit?

Come on guys...you're smarter than this.

Park his ### in front of Luongo and Kipper and watch those 2 lose there minds and watch there dman try to move him. Very funny to watch

The Hawks wont be trading much this season but in the offseason I expect

-Byfuglien , Versteeg and Barker will be traded for picks + prospects
-Huet will be traded with an asset (Pick or prospect) or waived outright
-Same for Sopel
-Kopecky will be waived

Sharp will likely be kept by the Hawks as he is viewed as more a vital part of our core then those I mentioned.

I expect the Hawks to resign our RFA's (Ladd , Niemi and Hjalmarsson at reasonable increases) and attempt to resign Madden for a long term (3 yrs) low cap hit deal.

Jack Skille's ELC will be expiring so I expect him to sign for a lower cap hit

I expect the CAP to be 55 million

Sharp (3.9) - Toews (6.3) - Hossa (5.275)
Beach (1.2) - Bolland (3.375) - Kane (6.3)
Ladd (1.8) - Madden (1.6) - Brouwer (1.025)
Eager (1.1) - Dowell (.525) - Skille (.975)

Seabrook (3.5) - Keith (5.538)
Campbell (7.143) - Hjalmarsson (1.3)
Connelly (.875) - Hendry (.775)

Niemi (1.3)
Crawford (.800)

Just a bit under cap

Beach will probably get a look to be on team next year with Aliu waiting in minors if he isn't ready

Connelly has been impressive in Rockford this year but Hawks may go out and look for a cheap vetran dman.

So out goes Versteeg , Byfuglien , Barker , Fraser , Kopecky , Sopel and Huet

In comes Beach , Skille , Dowell , Connelly , Hendry (He is our 7th dman right now) and Crawford

Yeah I could go either way with O'Sullivan. He really has shown that supposed grit that he was known for before he came here. At least not through my eyes. I don't know if we trade him I won't be upset but if we keep him I wont mind either.
Brule spent most of his time on the 3rd line last year

just saying

Not a fan of going after another project type player. Although he is young and full of potential, we have seen enough of these type of players.

My suggestion is move Cogliano and a pick for Sharp.

You have a very good team, but I'd be really concerned about that goaltending tandem, as well as the bottom defence pairing.

I use to watch Buff play in Prince George with the Cougars and at the time he was a d-man playing at least 40 minutes a game. PG usually only played 5 defencemen and double shifted "the buff" as we called him, plus he play both on the pp and pk. I would love to see him in a Oilers jersey. I'm sure he could play great in a forward/defence roll, and be like a "super Strudwick", but I have a feeling that it would take a platoon of assault rifles to get him out of Chi town.

If Cogliano is playing on the fourth line he should be dealt. I am not a fan of Cogliano, never have been. But... If Cogliano isn't playing on an offensive line for us, he should be playing it for someone else and he could get us something back or be part of a package. I think his value is only going down. ,,I agree with your lines and like the trade for Sharp and Byfuglien..but Cogs can't play fourth line and is worth more than that. I know he has been and I feel sorry for him actually. That's not his game.
