Official Devils Forum?

Okay, so its 1:40 in the morning and I am bored. I was browsing around HFBoards and I found that Atlanta and Minnesota are the two least active team forums here. Minnesota's turned out to be far less active, so I went to check it out.

There is a sticky talking about why there isn't much activity and the guy said most people just post on Wild.com's message board. So this brought me to their site and the message board and it was fairly active. My last pit stop on this journey of boredom was the Devils website. I found that the site didn't have a message board / forum obviously. But I had never really thought about this... why not? I can't even remember why I came here in the first place, but a forum on the Devil's website would probably be the easiest way to attract strictly Devils fans.

Before I posted this I checked two other team sites that had lower activity here, Chicago and Atlanta. I was surprised that Chicago is less active since they aren't a "stagnant" team. Both teams have message boards. Is this a coincidence?

Just something to chat about, or not chat about.

I always thought it bizarre that one of the most rabid fan bases (Wild) had virtually zero HFBoards activity. I guess you discovered why; interesting.

Well apparently it works well for the Wild, Thrashers and Blackhawks. Here is a quick comparison: Giants fans at a game vs. Devils fans at a game. Picture those two scenes.. Now do you understand why the forum is like that?

But you have a point, who would administrate it, moderate it, etc. The NJ.com forums are a mess sometimes, but they don't have nearly the activity or flexibility for it to really matter.

I don't know what your comparing.

If your comparing numbers is Giants vs. Devils, it's not fair.. Football is on a whole different level than hockey and only 8 regular season home games

If your talking about type of fans at Giants games.. Giants fans are awful.. The majority are old quiet people who won't give up their ST and sell them to opposing fans when it gets too cold outside

The Giants most raucous crowd of late may have been that Giants vs. Saints 'away game' at Giants Stadium, because they opened tickets to the public and didn't restrict them to STH

Any forum dedicated to just one team is pretty much a **** show. The 49ers official forum is pretty legit, but filled with mongos. There's a bunch of good guys in there too, but you gotta know where to draw the line.

it works because the people don't know any better. the signal/noise ratio must be totally crappy.

here's an example, would you want a bunch of threads that are polls with OMG! WHOS THE HOTTEST DEVIL!!!! <3 <3 <3 and then instead of being erased, there's serious discussion. and then the rest of the idiocy that you see on nj.com and such.

After games (especially losses), the Eagles official message board is closed to guests. That's why I have an account there. Back in the day I used to browse the board and listen to WIP every time the Eagles lost. Warmed my heart.
