Arvid Strömberg

The Predators invited Strömberg to camp this year. Anyone care to shed some light on him? Is he a noteworthy prospect in any way?

They are doing just fine, Cam has 14p so far, Chris has 10p. However they seem to take a lot of penalties, according to a friend they have cool down slightly.

They play on a line with Karl Fabricius, nicknamed "the Fabbotts", and overall they've been Luleå's best offensive line so far.

The twins haven't scored the last two games, but they're always a threat.
Cam leads the team in scoring (6th in the SEL), Chris is fourth on the team (16th in the SEL), and their linemate Fabricius is third (11th in the league).

Cam is currently the most penalized player in the SEL with his 46 minutes (a 3.54 minute average).

Here's a few articles courtesy of Google Translate (so don't expect them to make too much sense), and a couple of videos.

Patric Cehlin has 3 goals and an assist in 15 games with Djurgården. Among players younger than 20 in the SEL, that places him ninth (trailing Tedenby) and second among undrafted players (trailing Larsson).

Patric has also played 7 games with Djurgården J20 in J20 Superelit, where he has 2 goals and 3 assists.

do you think he has a future in the NHL even though he went undrafted and is fairly small? The guy doesn't look like he's afraid of anybody. Also, is he on the radar to make the U20 WJC team?

Well, he has offensive skills enough to get him some points in SEL. But I'm not sure if that's enough to get him noticed in North America.

In october, one U20 team was selected to play in a tournament in Canada - The A team - and another team was selected to play in Russia - The B team. I expect many of the forwards from the A squad to make the WJC, and then having a few players from the B squad filling in on the third and fourth lines.

"A" team
Code:
9 F Tedenby Mattias HV 71 SWE 21.02.90 Vetlanda 178 80 L
10 F Josefson Jacob Djurgårdens IF SWE 02.03.91 Stockholm 183 85 L

29 F Fällström Alexander Harvard University USA 15.09.90 Göteborg 188 88 R
"B" team

29 F Lindberg Oscar Skellefteå AIK SWE 29.10.91 Skellefteå 183 84 L
The person who asked about Strömberg earlier might want to note that he was included on the "A" team.

Henrik Karlsson injury update, please?

Hi,

Last time I read a translated article from Swedish, it was talking about him being out with a muscle tear? Anyone have an update on what's going on with him?

Thanks,

BD

Any insight into Simon Hjalmarsson's play this year? 3A in 16GP, is he getting much ice time or struggling because of the level of play in the SEL?

Karlsson is still not playing.

Hjalmarsson has played on average 10:19 per game for the first 16 games. Although the fact that he had only played one SEL game prior to this season might be a contributing factor to him only having 3 points so far, I would say that his production is what you could expect from someone playing in the role Simon has on Rögle. Rögle is tied for third in teams with the fewest GF so far.

Maybe. He mostly gets to play on the fourth line but is quite noticeable. Very good skater and has great hands. Very entertaining to watch. He will at least become a prominent SEL player in my opinion. Don't know if he has the physique to play in NA though.

Edit - He was so close to deciding the game against Modo with a only a few seconds left just now. Inside of the crossbar - out! Too bad.

Does anyone knows who is Ahren Spylo-Nittels agent? is writing a little piece about him and it would be great if someone knew who it is.

Last i heard about Ahren is that Rögle/Rogle BK i SEL turned him down for Mathias Mansson and he is now in practice with Florida Everblades in ECHL

Johan Fransson

Fransson seems to have matured a whole lot this year. Where defensive shortcomings were an issue, he's now taking control of the play, being a little more proactive and even strong defensively and in winning battles along the boards. I find he's frequently the best player on the ice.

I'm not certain how his game will translate to the NHL, but most comments I read about Fransson here deride his defensive game and dismiss his chances of success in the NHL. I believe his contract doesn't have an out-clause, but doesn't that expire soon?

Maybe because he is regarded as a very good hockey player?

He's one of those guys whose main strength is that he doesn't have any apparent weaknesses. Well, maybe he's a bit small I guess but I think he holds up well - atleast in Allsvenskan (Swedish tier-2).

That last bit is actually the main "problem" I have with Ekman-Larsson. He plays for a totally dominant team on a level that's too low for him to be thoroughly challenged. There are a lot of young d-men that would do a good job under those circumstances. Therefore, it will be more interesting to see how he performs at the WJC's compared to some of the other Swedish players who are already established SEL-players.

That is where much of my confusion came from, of course he is going to look good in a 2nd tier league, but 6th overall good? that was my main issue. Thank you for your input!

Mika Zibanejad

He had a good u17 tournament earlier this year, and he seems to have been doing quite well with the u18 team in djurgarden. Where does he sit with the 2011 draft class of Swedish prospects?

His name caught my eye some time last year, as his origins are Iranian. Wonder if he'll join Daniel Rahimi as Iranian-Swedish NHL draftees.

We'll see.

Jan Hrdina?

Does anybody know what happened to him?

The last I heard is that he played a few games last season and had hip problems.

Is he playing anywhere? Has he retired?
