To make room for Gagne in the lineup, Jon Kalinski was sent down to the Adirondack Phantoms. … The Flyers are asking their fans to bring a new, unwrapped toy to Saturday’s game. All toys collected will be donated to CBS-3 and CW Philly 57’s Joy of Sharing toy drive. … After practice Friday, Danny Briere, Ian Laperriere, Kimmo Timonen and Pronger shopped at Target for holiday gifts to donate to the Ronald McDonald House.
Excited to see him back in the lineup. It's a lot to ask for, but I'm really hoping he's as close to 100% as possible. As for his line and playing time, he needs to be worked back in...I don't expect him to play every shift with Richards, if that's who he's going to play with anyway. Laviolette may want to go in a different direction. Personally, no point in changing Briere, Hartnell, Carter--they've been our best line, when together, this season.
Its sad to see Kalinski go back down. I love the intensity that he played at. But, Gagne back is a relief, hopefully, to the scoring drought. I just hope the time off gave him ample time to heal his wounds. A less than 100% gagne wont do us any good at this point.
Like everyone else, I'm pretty upset that Kalinski got sent down but hey, what can you do? I'm glad Gagne is back but he's got a lot to prove hopefully he can look at this as a clean slate and start tearing it up out there.
I'm still trying to figure out what's gonna happen with Powe next week... who get's scratched? Asham played far too well last night to automatically count him out.
i think he played well enough to stay up but with a healthy team im thinking they might want to see what they have before they shift guys around be it calling up guys from the phantoms or a trade. im thinking given lavi's familiarity with asham its probably pyro who sits when powe comes back
That one link said everything felt fine for Gagne during the skate, except tightness? Doesn't this sound just a bit like what led up to the original injury in the first place? Perhaps we should wait a little longer.
Definitely stoked Gagne is coming back tomorrow....but I'm kinda thinking that Kalinski should have stayed up. It surprises me a bit that he was sent down...I know they had to send somebody down, but in a time where our team was playing like ****, Kalinski was one of the very few bright spots.
That said, not sure who they would have sent down instead though...and I'm guessing that's the reason.
We now have some good grinders and until we get a rental or another upgrade via trade/waiver/whatever we should forget about spreading out our scoring over 3 lines.
When everyone gets healthy I wish we would roll out 2 scoring lines packed with as much talent as we have. Play the two top lines alot and I do mean ALOT untill we get out of this slump and climb back into the top4 in the east where we belong.
And if anyone on the top two doesn't show some ****ing heart, demote them to the bottom two untill they realize they have to play hard to get 15-20 minutes a game..
Same goes for anyone performing over their level, give them some games on the top two.
I guess I'm trying to say it's time people start to ****ing fight for their minutes! Stevens is gone!
I like Giroux over Briere with Hartnell/Carter as I think he's the better playmaker and Hartnell/Carter should focus on crashing the net/finishing. They should try Pyorala at center which he played in the SEL on occasion..
Maybe Pronger can get Coburn to raise his level as he has done with Carle.
I wonder what Carcillo has to do to prove that he belongs on this team..
Acc. to Laviolette, nothing but more of the same: hit everything that moves, punch the crap out of some puke every other game, score a goal or set one up once in a while....
He got burned on two calls that weren't even penalties last night.
I'm still wondering, since Stevens' alleged passivity behind the bench was supposed to be the cause of all the garbage penalties the refs were giving us, why hasn't it got any better with a screamer behing the bench? Isn't he holding the refs accountable either?
The reason I still have JVR, Giroux and Asham together is that they were awesome against the Pens. I know Carcillo has been doing well of late, but I'd say to put Gagne on the first line to really gauge where he's at. If not, maybe switch up Gagne and JVR for the lines. See what gets generated. No offense to Pyorala, but I wish we had someone that was better at scoring and setting up Richards and Gagne on the first line.
