Another "B" type player. We have enough of them on the roster.

Also, it makes you wonder why no team signed him thus far.

Good point. But do you think we would be able to acquire "A" type player without losing for example Staal, Sanguinetti etc...?

Well, the trade deadline might afford us the option to trade one of our assets (young D + draft pick) in a package for an A- type forward.

However, we surely will have to part with one of our bright young def. but we did a heck of a job stocking up with them over recent years, a credit to Sather and management (yes, I just said it!), which gives us some tangible assets to negotiate with.

OR, the other option is to clear some cap space at the deadline and push hard for Kovy in the off-season as a FA. THAT I trust Sather can do. You know one of his ridiculous contract offers with guaranteed $ and years with a full NMC

Ahhhhh Kovy + Gabby

I, on the other hand, like this idea. Can't hurt. Ain't my money either.

I hate that guy... I'd rather bring the Ferraro brothers out of retirement than sign Satan.

It's another "band-aid on a bullet wound" move. Only difference is this time it's a used band-aid that we pulled out of a dumpster.

Get Satan and continue the cycle of mediocrity? Awesome.

I want to ask some Ranger fans why they want to patch this team up for a 9th place finish or another 1st round embarrassment? Do you love getting your heart ripped out by this organization year after year?

even my avatar thinks that would be a desperation move for any team in the NHL. Miro at this stage of his career might be an OK addition as a 10th forward who will sit some and play 8-10 minutes a game. If you expect him to spark a turnaround, he'll disappoint.

Satan would make some sense for a Cup contender looking to add some depth. He does absolutely nothing for Rangers.

According to article in Slovak newspaper (http://hokej.sme.sk/c/5159713/satan-...kor-v-nhl.html), he is very to close (final decision should be in one week) with signing to 2 teams near his home (he lives in NY). He is very motivated, cause he wants to play at Olympics (btw. he was the best in goals in '94) and retire from international hockey. So I think, he will sign with one of NYR, NJD, PF for minimum salary.

Not that it's a terrible idea, but I just feel like he'd be the type of player to get all comfy doing nothing like the rest of these slackers. I feel like we need a catalyst, Brenden Morrow type player.

Ummm.... no. We have a lot of prospects like Grachev, Step, McD, Sanger, Werek, Kreider, etc who are very valuable, as well as young players many would want: Staal, DZ, Gilroy, Girardi, Dubi, Cally, Anisimov. This is not even mentioning Lundqvist and Gabby.

Unlike 2004, this team has a lot of assets, but we just don't want to trade them.

In 2004, we needed to start over and rebuild completely. This time, we have a lot of good things going for us, but we need to add some top-shelf talent to it.

This is why it would be good if we got a top-2 pick this year.

This is also why it would be good to get a few extra 2nd to 5th round picks. We can use those picks on high-risk, high-return prospects. Hopefully one will turn into Marc Savard, who in 1995 was a 4th rounder offensive dynamo who couldn't skate or play defense.

Trxjw - THAT is a truly great line! Best thing I've ever seen from one of the Mods here.

agreed.

If we put together a streak of wins (highly doubtful) and we were around a 7th or 8th place team, but still had trouble scoring goals on a consistent basis, I wouldn't mind adding Satan and getting him in the mix on the top 9. We really don't have any forwards in Hartford that are performing well enough to be brought up and give our forwards a run for their jobs other than PAP and Locke, and PAP already has multiple chances under his belt and has been mediocore at best up here.

Sign him to an Afinegenov type one year deal at $800,000 or so and sure - I see no problem with it. Low risk, potential high reward. Dude's got multiple 20 and 30 goal seasons under his belt (even had one 40 goal season) and honestly, he can't be any worse than some of our forwards haha. Well, actually...

**** it, on second thought -- give the kids as much time as they can get. The signing would be straight pointless if this club wants to succeed in the future.

So is Prospal, and I would love to have another one like him...

...but Satan is a sniper and we have way to many of them.

I don't think we have many B players at forward. After Gaborik, Prospal, and MAYBE Dubinsky we have a bunch of C+ and lower players.
