O'Byrne Markovs new partner

http://canadiens.nhl.com/club/news.h...id=DL|MTL|home

according to the writer O'Byrne will be Markovs new partner On the blue line with bergeron moving up to forward and Gill/Gorges/Mara fighting for the final two spots. which also means that Hammer and Spacek would now be our second pairing oooo I like that.

This is what I expected when the season began. O'Byrne is going to be our new Mike Komisarek.

As for the battle for the final pairing, I'm thinking Gill and Gorges win out, but someone else is bound to get hurt (knock on wood).

Its like markov - komisarek... after this season, obyrne will be overrated if he play always with general markov.

Great, now O'Byrne's going to cost us 5 mil once he becomes RFA.

There we go, after Komisarek, Markov will have to babysit O'Byrne.

...but don't worry, after a couple of idiotic penalities, O'Byrne will find himself a new partner and some icetime.

smart move, even if mara could play a bit better than o'byrne this year, he might not even be there next year. Without injuries (!!), i suppose he will be benched to keep the gorges-gill pair on the pk.

Something doesn't sit easy with me when I get the feeling Gorges is the odd-man out.

4th best +/- on the team and isn't he 3rd overall for our TOI on the team?

As opposed to Mara who is -12 and ain't getting any faster, though he has a nice shot.

IMO -- Gorges Out + Mara In = Mistake. I say we trick Mara into thinking he's still injured

Gill/Gorges/Mara

I can't see any of these guys not making the lineup. Martin's decision will be hard to take.

Gorges - Mara
or
Gill - Gorges
or
Gill - Mara

What do you prefer?

Gill-Gorges, and despite thinking Mara is a really decent player, I'll even throw in a "and it's not even close"

I think it's safe to say that most of us expected this.

I'm just hoping Markov is 100%

Gill and Mara were brutal together, aside from one game Gill and Gorges have been very good together.

Don't split up Gorges-Gill. They have been...gg.

Markov-O'Byrne
Spacek-Mara
Gill-Gorges

Assuming Hamrlik is still out.

Best idea ever!! I wanted Subban next to Markov but O'byrne is the best player to pair with Markov on our current lineup. O'byrne has the potential to be a komisarek like player... even better.

Awards:
to anyone leaving out Gorges.

I mean, really? He's young, defensively good in his own end and very responsible and he can log a lot of minutes. Yet this guy is being scratched by a lot of people here and some even package him in deals to ship him out of here. :

Subban is not coming up this year, hopefully. He needs to stay down and develop. Enough rushing the youngsters, it hasn't worked for the most part.

Gorges and Gill are dominant on the PK together.
No way Gorges is odd man out.
