Tonight's poor showing notwithstanding.......if they don't have him this year, are they fighting Carolina for last?

Ty Conklin has been just as good, if not better in my opinion.
I think they'd be doing the same.

Pretty much my thinking.

If they had weaker goaltending, they might have stronger offense. Why? It's just a gut feeling.

In my opinion, Conklin and Mason are about the same goalie except for Mason's giveaways that lead to a goal once every 3 games or so. We can do better next year. I would throw some money at Rinne if he hits UFA.

Without Mason one of Bishop/Toivonen would be the backup in St. Louis. I think we'd be forced to overuse Conklin or make a bad trade/longshot free agent signing to get a capable backup.

We'd be alot closer to Carolina IMO.
