It is news like this that makes me thankful that I live in Vancouver. Outside, no snow, 6 degrees, and sunshine!

Didn't a game in Vancouver got postponed due to bad weather a few years ago?

[edit] It was in Denver not Vancouver

There is no greater honor for a habs fan than to die going to a game.

The blizzard has already started and roads are not very nice around here right now, and it can only get worse as you head towards the coast. I would still probably go if I didn't have a Ford Mustang, where I have enough trouble as it is in just plain rainfall.

I know that you guys come to LI for the Hab-NYI game, many of you do... I just wanted you guys to exercise caution. Things really come to a standstill on LI in these conditions. Are plowing is pretty bad, and traveling should be kept to an absolute extreme situation.

If you guys are planning on coming down, I'd leave as early as you possibly could. If you aren't, I'd really consider alternative plans. If you especially don't have a hotel, make sure you call the Marriot(across from the Coliseum) in advance.

Just trying to help you guys out. Things will be nasty down here, be safe.

Be careful the road to New York is realy bad with Storms... I already hit one in the Adirondaks and we were driving at 40 km/h and was escort by police we almost hit a car stuck on the road thanks to the cups who were slowing the traffic. It tooks me 10hours to get in new york for the New year party... and i'm driving fast ...

be careful everyone

It has started snowing.
Those aren't fans; that's the team.

Rangers Fan here but I live on LI

Im about 20 min from the nassau coliseum. Its not snowing right now and theres about half a inch on the ground but the roads are icy so be real careful. Like it was said earlier in the thread call up the marriott or another hotel/motel in the uniondale area because its going to get really bad tonight. If your coming from NYC i strongly suggest taking the LIRR and then a cab if you really want to go, but if it gets as bad as there saying while the games going on getting back to the train may be hard since its a few miles away.

What does the lockout have to do with it?

Good advise but I'll add the cab companies on LI are under staffed and under paid, they arent the taxis from the city. You're not going to get too many cab drivres in their beat up old car service cars sliding all over LI if it's that bad out. People have to be prepared for possibly a long long wait for a cab.

Quebec drivers are good. We are adapted to these bad road conditions.

I live up north, really north, trust me I can drive in any situation

The problem lies with all the Long Island drivers driving in these conditions. On a sunny day drivers here are awful, some drizzle and people freak out. Blizzard, all bets are off!

Anyone coming to the game, be safe. It looks like it's going to get worse throughout the night, so getting to the game won't be as bad as leaving the game.
