vermont hockey players

i'm going to be heading up to vermont in mid january. i'll be leaving straight from my game so i will have my stuff with me. i'll be in killington. i found 2 rinks within a half hour. one in rutland and one in union i think? has anyone ever played at either of those places? also, i noticed alot of the rinks i was researching have whats called "stick and puck", what is that? i'm just looking to go to open hockey (which i notice is called pond hockey. odd). are the lakes frozen up in that area? possibility of guys playing real pond hockey anywhere?

thanks!
