It looks as though a trade may be announced between the two Nova Scotia teams sometime later today. Earlier today, John Moore (voice of the Mooseheads) tweeted the following:
A leak out of Moose front office. Watch for big announcement tomorrow regarding Mooseheads and Screaming Eagles.
Do you think Cape Breton is looking to trade for one of Halifax's top offensive players to assist Luke Adam, such as a Grant or Knotek? It would allow for the Eagle's to compete better with a Drummondville or Saint John at the top of the league. We already know they're good on the backend with Olivier Roy in the net.
On the other hand, Halifax might be looking to invest in the future with some of Cape Breton's prospects and/or draft picks. They have an extremely young team as of right now and can wait a few seasons before competing for a championship. Not to mention, they are in the basement of the league once again so losing a top player this season couldn't hurt them much more.
A trade won't be happening since it turned out to be an announcement about special provincial jerseys. I guess I got hyped up about nothing, but what are you going to do. I think Cape Breton could use a good forward from somewhere to help push them to the top. Otherwise, they are going to have a tough time beating a team like Saint John if they meet in the playoffs. But obviously if the Screaming Eagle's feel like they have a legitamite chance at a championship (which I believe they do), they will most likely make a trade(s) within the next few months.
