Carter, Lecavalier and Selanne

Reports in an Ottawa paper suggest that the Flyers, Tampa and the Ducks want to shake up their repective rosters and all three big names are on the table. Do we have interest in any of them and if so, at what price?

I can't image theyd trade him in the division. Would probably take Anisimov, MDZ as a starter.

Not sure I would do it. We had to wait a million years until we finally found what we needed in Del Zotto. It will be too hard to replace him. Also, Anisimov and Del Zotto combined make only 1.8 million compared to Carter's 5 million

Carter is being dangled to bring a goalie back. At least that's what i think. Carter is a young guy just removed from a 40-goal season. He will coast a lot. While I think we do have the assets to make that trade, I don't think philly wants or needs to m ake a deal with a rival.

OTOH, Philly needs to restock their cupboard. All their young guys are with the big club and they've lost some draft picks from trades.

For s&g's, I'll offer Dubinsky, Girardi a 1st and 2nd for Carter. If they dont like Girardi they can have Mcdonagh.

Have the Rangers ever made a significant trade with the Flyers?

Sorry, but no way do I trade two talented young centermen in AA and Dubi for Carter. I would rather offer Higgins+Kotalik+Sangs for Carter. I think there is something to do with Lisin.

I don't think Carter is that valuable yet. That 46 goal season is nice, but this season he's only on pace for 29 goals, which is what he had two seasons ago. He still has a lot to prove. So do DZ and Anisimov, but at least they're on entry level contracts

Sorry FOXHOUND, mis-read that. I would have a hard time parting with AA or Dubi though. I don't think anyone tried harder every bloody shift then Dubi, and AA is starting to find his NHL game. I think this guy is going to be killer in two years. I just want rid of the dead wood.....turn the page and pretend some of these management descisions never happened!

No problem man, Of course I'd hate to give up on either of them, It would kill me to send Dubi to the Flyers, but ******* do we need secondary scoring.

I'm going to guess that since you said Ottawa paper, this is the Ottawa Sun and most probably an article from Bruce Garrioch, since there's no link. Selanne has a NMC in his contract and has stated countless times his desire to only play for Anaheim. For what it's worth Lecavalier has a NMC as well, although there have been numerous rumors about him being traded.

Maybe a 3rd team could be involved so the Rangers would get Carter. Probably a team willing to trade a goalie, like Montreal, Atlanta, or Chicago.

Are we going anywhere this year? No. So what's the point of trading for what we presently need?

We can wait, see how the kids develop and only then trade our known surplus for known need.

For all we know, Step and Grachev will become top-shelf first liners on a killer first line with Gabby and McD and Sauer will bust so our need will be a defensive defenseman.

We have a lot of prospects like Kreider, Werek, Bourque, etc who may turn into that secondary threat we need.

Between Anisimov, Stepan and Werek, I think someone will become at least a "good-enough" center. On RW we have Gabby, Cally and Lisin, which is solid.

I am more concerned about left wingers, but let's see how things work out with Grachev, Kreider, Bourque and Weise before jumping the gun.

In two years, our needs will be more clear and we will know exactly what we have in DZ, Sang, Gilroy, Heineken (if he stays), Sauer, McD, Kreider, Grachev, Werek, Bourque, etc.

Once we know what we have and what we need, we will be able to trade without the fear that we again dealt away Sergei Zubov, Doug Weight or Tony Amonte, this time for even less because we did not know what we had.

A player with a NMC is not a major problem when his team doesn't have a chance in hell to go anywhere and in Lecavaliers' case, I am sure he is tired of seeing his name linked to every trade rumor out there! And again, never said I was interested if it's going to cost us a good number of our young talent.

He's a monster. And he would significantly improve our depth at C. However, I don't see the Flyers trading within the division.
