Thought I'd create a new thread for this rather than a new thread be created every time someone gets sent up or down.
According to Capgeek, Jamie McGinn was sent down yesterday. Not sure if this accurate or not. I'd be surprised if he wasn't in the lineup tonight. I thought he had a great game against Vancouver with the exception of at the end of the game where he is soft clear led to a goal.
Unless an emergency happens, they all report to Worcester when they are sent down...
I'm pretty sure DW has told the Worcester folk how this is going to play. Does this mean like, say after the Nucks game, Jamie flies from Van directly to Wor, reports in, and then immediately flies back to SJ? This would be legit right? So Jamie really would've flown back on Sun, then flown back to SJ yesterday, in time for today's game right?

go take a picture of them showing up. I travel a lot and theres no way I could travel as much as some of these guys are and not be flu ridden shell of my former self.
I can understand when theres a three or four day gap but these guys are getting sent down and back its basically a one day round trip flight. It just has to be brutal on these guys, I really have a lot of respect for them.

There isn't a player in the AHL that wouldn't fly across the country twice in 24 hours to play in an NHL game...

I'd bet he left this morning for SJ, but other than that your scenario seems accurate.
I'm sure the player's desire is there, but the planes flying cross country usually aren't.
?? There are always planes going from Boston to SFO. I can get 4 direct flights out just on United tomorrow, and 3 returning with 24 hours gap. Beyond that, if someone wants to pay first class fare, you can normally get a seat and bump someone with an upgrade. And finally, there are less direct flights into LAX and on Southwest into San Jose. And final final ... there are commercial charters available when absolutely necessary.
Nonetheless, my understanding is the players have to physically report to the team. I am not sure that they have to play however. Its about a 6 and a half hour flight so its not a picnic unless you are flying first and can stretch out, sleep and walk around a little.

Worcester has 3 choices of airports within 60-90 min ride.
Boston
Providence, RI
Manchester, NH
And if they need needed to go a little farther out - Hartford, CT.
This is a third hand story so I'm not sure it's true, but it's funny enough to mention anyway...supposably someone asked Couture how many frequent flyer miles he had, and he answered he didn't know but it was going to result in a hell of a vacation come the summer.

Logan's comment (IIRC merc article) was that he's collected mileage on a number of carriers. (So who knows if he'll have enough on one for a decent trip )

I guess he'll need to change planes a lot on his way
Worcester is a 2nd rate city. Back in the 60's the residents of Worcester had the opportunity to have the Mass Pike I90 run through their city and they nixed the idea. Now they are the 2nd largest city in New England and don't even have an operating airoprt! Providence is the best way to get to Worcester (pronounced Wister), and best Hartford.
