Toronto- New York Islanders

Clearly, Jason Blake has fallen out of favor with the Toronto Management, so what I am proposing is a swap of two underachieving players, one of which could potentially rekindle past island success

To New York I:

Jason Blake
4th round pick in 2010

To Toronto

F Blake Comeau

Blake was a problem in the Isles dressing room. Can't see them ever wanting him back.

I see no reason for a rebuilding Islanders team to take on a vastly overpaid player.

Name 1 other non-ELC player that scores 55-60 points and gets paid $1.5M.

In fact, Blake's contract is just fine at this point in time. The issue with it is term, not amount.

He's also very, very ugly.

The coach is moving him around a bit, but I haven't seen any proof he has fallen out of favour with Leaf management.

Its true. He and Grabovsky could lead the All-Ugly squad.

No thanks Comeau has been showing lots of promise this year in adapting to a new role. I wouldn't touch Blakes contract with a 60 foot pole, neither would Snow.

True, but Milbury would touch it! I miss Milbury.

I see absolutely no reason for the Isles to do this.

Matt Moulson is doing as good as or a better job than Blake for WAY less money.

Why can't we keep our own picks?

Blake is terrible, for his contract. He's responsible at both ends of the ice, can skate well and always backchecks. But he's a puck hog, doesn't know what to do with puck in the offensive zone and gets pushed off the puck too easily.

I say we keep our 4th Rounder, and draft a gem with it and develop him in our own system. Instead of trading it for a player that another team drafted.

lol i love how everyone *****s about blake. ya he is super frustrating to watch but if you look at players who make $4million they are all around the same level of production as blake.

the fact that you think burke would trade blake and a 4th for comeau is pretty laughable. comeau is a 25 point scorer.

also what proof do you have that management has soured on blake? can you provide a link?

But Blake works very hard and Islanders seem to like hard working players...

Blake is not going anywhere at this point. The way he is playing he's worth more to us than any trade. Hes got 7 goals, 15 assists and has had a few game winners, etc... Also, hes shown he can play other lines/teammates adequately... He is very frustrating, especially with his contract but right now I think hes worth more to management than any trade, which no one will make for him anyway... If we can find an adequate replacement (Stalberg, Kulemin, re-sign Ponikarovsky, etc...) I think we could send him down to the Marlies but who knows at this point... Right now hes at least more durable than Stalberg and provides the speed Ponikarovsky doesn't bring...

The rebuilding Isles aren't trading 23/24 yr old Comeau for 34/35 yr old Blake, who's a shadow of his old playing self and making 5-7x Comeau's salary
