It certainly does that but it just deconstructs the amazingly boring and obtuse way all those stupid specials are done. Any time a celeb talks about their house or car, it's recipe for boredom.

No doubt about that, to this day I will never under stand how Cribs lasted so long. Everytime I watched even briefly I felt alternating waves of nausea and boredom.

Well it takes the piss out of Heatley pretty good too (the overdub comes off as arrogant and self absorbed, money obsessed, and mentions his funky eye etc.).
curt cobain was a good lyricist at best with a lot of passion for what he did, however he was a horrendous guitar player and couldn't construct songs with more than an overused melodic minor chord progression. Nirvana's collective musical talent was about equal to that of a 16 year old.
Drum beats and fills you learn in your first 2 weeks of drum lessons and horribly overused 'powerchord' construction that anyone with fingers can play. Nirvans might very well be THE MOST overrated band in the history of modern music. They're right up there with U2

Them and Pearl Jam basically introduced the Alt-Rock/Grunge genre to the US. Even if people don't like their music, you can't deny the impact they had on music today.

i can agree with that, however i dont know that they were completely responsible for that. there were plenty of bands in the early and mid 90's that were doing that such as the emergence of emo in the early 90's (real emo, not what people call emo today not having any idea what it actually is or where it came from) and the hardcore scenes. Nirvana just happened to gain a lot of fame, which pushed them into the spotlight. There are any number of bands that could be credited with that feat.

They also stood on the shoulders of giants. Pavement and Soundgarden were better and, hell, it's arguable that one of the best grunge albums was Neil Young's Freedom. People forget that a lot of grunge finds its roots in Neil Young and Crazyhorse and bands like The Stooges. Mudhoney beat Nirvana to the punch as well.
The 10 second soundbite that you always hear states that Nirvana killed hair metal but that genre was dying no matter what.

you can say that about almost every modern band or genre of music. Everyone has an influence on why and how they play music which in turn they take and form their own sound.

exactly, which is why it's absurd to say that Nirvana "changed" music. They did not, they might have opened up the majorities eyes to a then non-mainstream style and genre, but to change music is a feat that Nirvana was not responsible for.

That in itself changes music. Bringing the light to a genre, and having countless fans connecting in ways that you and i dont know of is "changing" music. Nirvanna is bleh to me, its no better than Alice or Pearl Jam or whatever. Just because your not one of the "many" who think they did, dosent mean they didnt have something to do with that movement.
