The point is that we should be looking at a future #1, so we dont have to repeat mistakes like giving up first rounders or signing injury prone old guys.
I admitted that it is still early in the season and that there is time for him to prove me wrong, but I am sticking with my prediction that his stats were inflated by the defensive style the wild played. And you really can't translate AHL success to NHL success they are two totally different levels.

I never once stated that we should stick with the status quo. I just don't think Harding is the answer we should be looking for.

Fair enough. What about Halak? Do you have another suggestion?

wrong, Halak isn't the answer here since T-Lo was brilliant enough to sign khabi

If I had to choose between Halak and Harding, I would go with Halak. Halak has shown some consistency on a year to year basis (winning record in every year he has played in the NHL) and has a 38-26-2 career record. Harding hasn't had a winning record since the 06-07 season when he played only 7 games in the NHL (3-2-1 MIN, and a 17-16-4 in the AHL). Halak also has a respectable .915 save percentage and a 2.6 GGA. These stats are similar to those Harding put up in the Lemaire era, but Montreal wasn't playing the defensive minded system that Minny was.

With that being said, I am not sure Halak is the answer either. With both players yuu are still rolling the dice and hoping for the best.

As for other options, I have no answer. If I had the answer to that question I would be an NHL GM instead of an Armchair GM.

Not a full rebuild but they revamped there team in 6 months:

Feb-07 Ryan Parent,Scottie Upshall,2007 1st Rounder (transferred back to Nashville - Jonathon Blum) & 2007 3rd Rounder (transferred to WASH - Phil Desimone) from Nashville Predators for Peter Forsberg
24-Feb-07 Braydon Coburn from Atlanta Thrashers for Alexei Zhitnik
26-Feb-07 Lasse Kukkonen & 2007 3rd Rounder (Garrett Klotz) from Chicago Blackhawks for Kyle Calder
27-Feb-07 Martin Biron from Buffalo Sabres for 2007 2nd Rounder (T.J. Brennan)
4-Jun-07 futures from Nashville Predators for Matt Ellison
18-Jun-07 Kimmo Timonen & Scott Hartnell from Nashville Predators returning Nashville's 2007 1st Rounder (previously obtained - Jonathon Blum)
23-Jun-07 2007 2nd Rounder (Kevin Marshall) from Washington Captials 2008 for 2nd Rounder (Dmitri Kugryshev) + Nashville's 2007 3rd Rounder (Phil Desimone)
1-Jul-07 Jason Smith & Joffrey Lupul from Edmonton Oilers for Joni Pitkanen , Geoff Sanderson & 2009 3rd rounder (transferred to Calgary - Ryan Howse)
10-Dec-07 2009 7th Rounder from Dallas Stars for Jussi Timonen
19-Dec-07 Jim Vandermeer from Chicago Blackhawks for Ben Eager

Alot of changes quickly, but not alot of reward 2 years later.

That Timonen/hartnell move was simply an amazing deal by Philly. Poor Nashville always having to gut their team.

Nashville couldn't sign Timonen or Hartnell, we got Jonathon Blum out of it, instead of nothing on July 1st.

Why would the Oilers trade for a young goalie who strugging right now?

What about making a trade for Halak, Biron, or Toskala?

I think Toskala might actually be waived like Burke did with Bryzgalov.

Should the oilers take a chance on any of those guys, or just stand pat Jeff. Bulin might actually need surgery.
