Problem is they face the Leafs. You know that game won't be easy. God I hate the Leafs!

Great to get the win. Pleks, Gomer 3 points each, nice. Did not get to see the game but based on the 47 shot total I guess we can trade Price now and run with Halak and who ever we get for Price and Dags.

Good to read positive reviews of Poo's first game.

Don't read too much in the 40+ shots this game. The 'Canes entered the second down 3 goals and the third down 4. A team that trails by a lot tends to use the patented "pray, shoot, pray, shoot" method of offense, so they tend to rack up big numbers of low-percentage shots.

That, and the Carolina scorers hand out shots to the home team like candy canes. Remember that 6-1 playoff win? Somehow Huet made 40 saves that night...

another classic from a Leaf thread

Plekanec is a first liner, just as Stajan is.

Shots aren't a good example in tonight's game. Habs dominated from the get-go if you ask me.

On Pouliot:
-He's still raw but there's enough skill/speed/size to stay optimistic.
-Pouliot and his linemates learning each others tendencies will help his game.

Top 6 Forward is named GIONTA.
It's not because there's injuries that we have to go out and get anybody.

Patience, Gionta will be back.

Should we trade Halak after because we need a top 2 D with Hammer out?..

We're not going to trade Halak nor Price. We need both and if we keep allowing 50shots a game, we ABSOLUTELY need both.

Also, if you trade Halak or Price, we still need a decent veteran back up. There's no way neither one will fetch us a top 6 Forward + Decent Veteran back up. They are still unproven.

If Halak keeps playing as he has, his value will just increase and since he's a RFA we'll still be able to trade him next summer if needed.
Also, having both Goalies as RFA might help negotiate with them as we'll for sure have a solid Plan B.
If Price asks for the motherload, we can trade him, get a decent return and sign Halak to a more reasonable contract.

It baffles me though to see how anybody here or in the media talking about trading either one.
Our most effective players so far this year have been Plek-Price-Halak. Trading any of them would make us weaker.
Price has a poor performance, Halak steps in and steals the show.
Price gets the net after a weaker Halak performance, he bounces back beautifully.

We will trade one either at the deadline if we can get a return that would make our team instantly better. If not, it'll go to the summer.

Something I don't like about this board, it's the only thing I don't like but does anyone else wonder why the PGT after a win is way less active than after a loss? It's like the fans here on HF boards are happier to criticize the team after a loss than to gloat after a win.

That's not just the PGT... This board is fueled by whining about loss or whining about players.

Good performance by everyone tonight ! Everyone was solid on the PK (hell even Lapierre was). I wish Metropolit finished his night with a hat trick, but hey we broke the curse

Toronto here we come !

Agreed.

I noticed JM had MaxPac's line out there the last couple PP's.

I would have done the same with a 4 goal lead.

Well it's the right thing to do IMO and you give some guys that never have that chance to get some pp time.Pens proved their point and having those guys on the ice at 8-1 on the pp was pretty cheap

That right there is the difference between the Canadiens and most of the teams in the league, class, all the way.

i dont want to be negative tonight so ill have to keep my message short. the Canadiens do have very good special teams so far. i cant remember a year where both the PK(7th overall at 83.9%) and PP (1st overall at 24.6% and a whopping 34.0% on the road)were so high.

Dang, the Habs' passive "let's let them play in our zone to tire them" system has become so obvious even Bergeron's commenting on it...

On the other hand, everyone who said "we need at least 3 wins on this road trip" can probably have a pretty relaxed Christmas.
