Why doesn't Kaberle play more on the PK if he is better in his own zone than Boyle?
Because he doesn't need to. We have Beauchemin, Komisarek, White and Schenn handling the PK duties. Kaberle's main goals are to QB the PP and skate the puck out of the defensive zone.
Although, I am in no way, implying that he's better than Boyle defensively.

1. Kaberle has indeed played in 4-time All-Star games, but has been selected to zero postseason All-Star teams, which is what he was talking about. The All-Star game is a popularity contest based on a half season of play, while the postseason All-Star teams are based on the full season and are based more on performance.
2. Kaberle does have more points post lockout, but in more games, due to Boyle's freak wrist injury two years ago. Boyle has a better PPG since the lockout (.732 for Kaberle versus .743 for Boyle)

Kaberle: 28, 26, 25, 23, 23 (current)
Boyle: 23, 27, 27, 25, 27 (current)
Total season points/powerplay points since lockout:
Kaberle: 67/51, 58/30, 53/30, 31/19, 31/17 (current) 60%

Career playoffs:
Kaberle: 6-22-28 in 77 games
Boyle: 5-21-26 in 51 games
So why is Kaberle better? San Jose's powerplay rose 6% the first year Boyle arrived.
I didn't even have to think about Boyle. But now that I read this, I'm surprised anybody else does either.
I think Kaberle is possibly THE best #2 d-man in the league. I say that because he doesn't have everything I would want in an ideal #1 d-man. A very good #1 for a lot of teams though, no doubt.
But Boyle is among about a half-dozen NHL d-men that does absolutely EVERYTHING and does it all VERY well. He's a top-20 player in value in the entire league. Kaberle is up around 50-60 in my books.
