Oh for gods sake. First of all i didnt make this topic so i could tell everyone that Hartnell is the better player. Second, how am i putting words in people's mouths when i tell facts? Yea sure i dont know anything about either player, thats one hell of a claim since you dont know anything about me. Just for note, i watch hockey alot and i know what are either players strenghts and weaknesses.
Browns play this year is mystery to me since i dont get to watch LA's games but good for him if his defensive play has improved. You cant blame me if im still in the believe that Brown is bad defensively since he has been every season till this one.
But i guess Brown is by far the better player then.
Anyways this is Hfboards for you, in a poll Malone vs Brown they are getting about the same amount of votes, then in a poll Hartnell vs Malone vs Clowe vs Penner, Hartnell wins it. Both polls done this month.
So Malone and Brown are equal, Brown beats the crap out of Hartnell while Hartnell wins Malone. Strange huh?
I dont know why Brown is leading by so big margin.
Offensively they are pretty equal players but defensively Hartnell beats the **** out of Brown. Okay Brown hits alot but Hartnell does too. So to me Hartnell should be the better player.
Here's why. Exactly why. Look at the penalties taken to drawn ratio.
lol this is too funny. Somebody creates a poll and then pretty much argues with everybody who votes for one option. Why'd you bother creating a poll if you were looking for a certain result?
I'd take Brown, I've just seen Hartnell take way too many dumb penalties that hurt his team. I'd like Hartnell a lot more if he would gain a little control of his reckless behavior on the ice, but to me, it seems like he thinks that is his game and I doubt he ever changes.
And a whopping 9 goals difference in the amount of goals they were on the ice for. We could go with this seasons stats so far whehere Brown has more points and better +/-. Will that work for you?
I'm confused as to how you got 9? It looks like 29 to me. More points on Hartnell's side too.
Sure, he's been awful this season but if we're going on stats from October to December then Penner is better than Richards.
I don't know where this notion that Hartnell is a substantial player defensively came from. Also, from what I've seen of Brown it doesn't look like he is a liability in the defensive zone (albeit he isn't a stud), which makes him no better or worse than Hartnell.
Like someone said, Hartnell benefitted from playing with Carter last year. Brown is a leader, whereas Hartnell is a far cry from an NHL captain. He's a worm.
Brown seven days of the week and twice on Sundays over Hartnell.
Yea Brown is clearly the better player and its not even close
Wow, Hartnell finished with 7 points and a much better +/- over Brown... I guess that will show Brown and his 5th overall in the draft, playoff dead, 30th overall last place in offense team. He didn't even compare to Hartnell and his 21st overall, conference quarterfinals contending, 4th overall in offense team...

OP makes a good point; Hf boarders are dumb and inconsistent. That being said I'd take Brown.
