Kings v. Coyotes: Post Game lick our wounds and move on THOUGHTS & TIDBITS

Jeez, I am gone for one night and nobody starts a PGT?

Yeah, yeah, we lost. It happens when you are off 8 freaking days and inject 4 players into the lineup that were out injured.

There is a post game article up on http://www.lakingsnews.com as well as a reality check piece for you woe is me chicken littles that think the road to and through the playoffs comes without adversity.

Go Kings!

I think everyone is down because of:

Not much to talk about other than just wait for the next game...

I don't think anybody could have predicted that on 12-27-09 the 4, 5 and 6 slots for the playoffs would be Colorado, Phoenix and the Kings-and Detroit would be on the outside looking in. What this tells me is there is going to be some major trades in the West. This is defintely going to be a marathon but you have to like how the Kings have played so far and overcame some injuries to star players. They have the depth to persevere and make some moves so from where I sit the Kings are in a pretty good position right now.

I really didn't think the Kings played that poorly last night. To me, it looked like just being a step behind from the start as opposed to outright suck or lack of effort. I had hoped there would be no rust, but I did expect it and there it was. No huge signals went off about omens of bad habits. The team kept battling as the game went on, and I thought Kopi played a better game (not great) than he has recently.

I hope Simmonds is not on the 1st line on Monday. I don't want Kopi playing between two guys who are fresh off injuries.

I also anxiously await Stoll's return. All things considered (mostly face-off's), I think Stoll is a bigger piece of this team than Williams. I am not worried about Williams' injury hurting the team that much, though it is a big bummer. I will say that I am now expecting a trade just before or after the Olympic break if the prognosis is really that Williams is out the rest of the season. Its one thing to not make a trade to fill a gap from a short term injury, but such a long term one I can't imagine DL not responding to with some market play.

I can't drink more beer, because I'm a recovering alcoholic, but I CAN have faith in my Kings.

Poor Willy, though. I think that's why I was so bummed last night. It was such a ****tease to have Smyth-Kopitar-Williams back for two damn shifts. Williams has had a great year, too. Guy has no lock whatsoever.

Well said.

And on top of that, give credit to the Coyotes. It was two good damn teams playing last night.

Purcell is our new first line RW. Awesome.

Frolov-Handzus-Brown is back together...not bad.

And, LOL, but Elkins got sent back to Manch. Ouch.

that last part should be less of a LOL about Elkins and more a positive sign that it indicates Jarret Stoll is close... Elkins getting sent back to Manchester was just a matter of time.

When you guys are ready to unite with us "Sexy Picks" as one, we'll accept you with open arms.

How many more injuries will it take guys?

2010 is coming in 2 games. All aboard the "Sexy Pick" train!

Poor effort by the Kings.......

Alsways 1 step behind for hockeyskills
and 3 steps behind in game reading skills

Game reading is one of the elements a coach has to teach.
This is not the first time i noticed that....

Most Teams score goals against us if they overload one side and crosspass to the other side for a one timer.......
It really hurts to see the Kings being traped 20 times per game like a peewee Team.

To keep Hockey simple is one thing..... but having no clue about modern style hockey is a different thing.
Our Players are mobile like a Railway.... they are movin everyone by himself and not as a unit.
This part of hockey is most difficult to teach because you have to know that stuff...
and there are not many who do.

Best example are the Red Wings from the late 90's.
If any player moved out of position... the other 4 formed a unit to prevent from open areas....
Our Team is doing the opposite..... as soon as one player leaves the simple ways, the other ones are confused. The ice opens up and the passes going to nowhere,
then the next one moves out of position to close a gap but the other ones doesn't follow........

As long as we can't find a coach who is able to teach aggressive offensive hockey
we are able to beat the lower teams an that's it.

BTW..... Stuff like that happens when young guys learn creative NHL Hockey
by players who are named Armstrong, Handzus etc........
I wrote 2 years ago about this stuff but there was a lot of the "Locker room" guys who told me, it's more important to have Armstrong in the Locker room instead focus on playing hockey inside of a hockey rink

Those black avatars are a curse, a plague of this board, and the sexy picks are the cure.

Ditch the funeral veils.

I didn't get to see the game last night, but reading some comments make it's sound like like we are now out of the playoff picture because we lost a game. Theres still a lot more time left till the season ends. Lets not start getting negative now. It's getting annoying.

Just watching that video makes me cringe. Good luck to Justin.

Sexy Picks need to go. We need to support the Kings, not some loose lip hoes.

I'm considering making the switch for the first game of the New Year, but it will entirely depend on the team's performance in the next two games. I do miss Ashley, but you're negativity isn't helping anybody!

The injuries started to overwhelm the Kings about the same time Zad began his crusade.

The injuries started before, and continued on. The battle through those injuries to the top of the West before the recent break started with the avatars.

Perspective.

LIES!

The avatars came to us after Smyth's injury and when we were not winning. Immediately thereafter, their force was put on display for all believers to see. They are a symbol of our resolve. Black for the adversity that challenges us, white for the hope and strength that carries us through!

HOPE NOT HO'S!!

Anyone else happy to see the Yotes doing well finally, too?

I didn't really care about the loss, last night. Come playoffs, that will be a different story I'm sure.

Happy to see the Coyotes winning?

Not really. Much as I hate to see franchises suffer as they have, financially and on the ice, I was never happy about the expansion so I am never really happy to see an expansion team do well. Harsh, I know.

I also never like to see divisional rivals do well, period.
