For me:

Brodeur > Lidstrom > Ovechkin > Crosby

It's Brodeur if you want to build a winning team and think about the Stanley Cup . You must have a great Goalie and build from there .

But if i had to chose Between Brodeur and Roy at 20y old, to build my team arround , i would pick Roy .

Yea it's not like Lidstrom with Detroit has won more cups, played more finals, won more games, and more trophies than Brodeur. This with having an average goaltender behind him. Surely you need to build from the net out

I'd take a team with Brodeur as the best player, over a team with Lidstrom as the best player.

I see your point , but you made a mistake , you forgot the word bellow , just b4 average Sorry dude i had to tease you

Lidstrom is a good choice too , anyway you can't go wrong building a team arround Brodeur or him...but i'm still going with the goalie

This is a great poll. It's a toss up between Marty and Lidstrom, IMO.

1. Lidstrom
1a. Marty
3. Crosby
4. Ovechkin

I chose Crosby. He's exceptional in all areas of the ice and has leadership skills to boot.

Wasn't an easy choice though. Who wouldn't want a perennial Vezna, Norris, or the Rocket Richard contender on their team.

Great poll

Crosby for me. I think he has that special quality where he can will a team to win. He's already won a Cup, and I think he will get significantly better. He's not Gretzky or Lemieux, but he is Yzerman with a bit more skill, more tenacity, and more physicality. If the only goal was the win a Stanley Cup this year, and GM's had their pick of one player to be on their team, I bet at least 25 would take Sid.

Full list
Crosby
Broduer
Lidstrom
Ovechkin

You can't go wrong with Brodeur or Lidstrom. I'm going with Lidstrom, one could argue he is responsible for Osgood winning his Stanley Cups. (point being - you don't need to build from the net out)

A goaltender contributes 60 minutes on defense... a defender contributes 28-30 minutes on offense and defense. Plus Lidstrom has made like two mistakes in his career.

I completely understand anyone picking Brodeur though. Imagine if you could have both! You would have like a max GAA of 1 lol.

I think this would be a better poll few years later. Right now it's a toss up between Brodeur and Lidstrom.

I'll go for Lidstrom, hard to not pick someone who plays ~28-30 minutes of elite hockey in all ends of the ice.
