McKenzie is reporting it's Jurcina, and it's done. "Details to follow" (via twitter).

Meh. Would have preferred ShaMo, but either way this should get Alzner the time he needs.

Hope it's for a pick or a prospect, not any regular NHLer from their line-up.

Hopefully it's more than scraps.

I guess Alzner will play after all.

When you consider how we got Juice and what he gave us, I would say he served the team well. Good luck in Columbus. I will look forward to seeing the return (and am lobbying for Ruth and a 2nd!)

Nice bit of payroll paring right there, not just for now, but for the outyears of that Clark deal. I liked Clark for his attitude, which should help in Columbus, but the team outgrew him, his numbers dropped off in the absence of first-line ice time (I like to call it Willsie Time), and he was an albatross.

Ovechkin will be wearing the C tonight, I imagine. Wonder if Laich would be well received by Ovechkin or not, because he is an excellent choice too.

Wow. Did not see that coming at all.

I mean, cap space, but wow. Hope this doesn't backfire in the room...

Yeah, hard to complain about this move, regardless of the return. He was a decent pick up and player for the Caps the last few years. Space needed to be made for Karl, plain and simple. The arbitration ruling to me pretty much sealed his fate for anything long term, so getting something in return as compared to letting him walk makes sense.

If the injury bug returns, could present a problem, but overall should be fine.

Edit: Bahwahahhaha! Even better!

Wow. I'm shocked (at Clark moving). This has gotta be a precursor for something else, no?

If that's the move, there has to be something else coming down the pipeline.

They're going for a big piece, if they're pairing down that much salary.

I actually will miss Clark a lot.

Not his salary. Nor his production of late. But I thought he had been better in the last 10 or so.
