Cameron Abney TRADED

Edmonton Oilers draft pick is now a member of the Edmonton Oil Kings. He makes his debut in the red and blue tomorrow night.

I like Abney and hope he does great with the Oil Kings.

It will be a neat experience to watch an Oiler prospect develop right in front of us.

Finally a big guy to fight so the likes of Ewanyk, Pearson and Maclise dont have to fight?

Not that they arent good fighters but watching Pearson fight last year against guys 30-50 pounds heavier and trying to go blow for blow with them was somewhat scary. Ewanyk is quite the fighter though. Not something I would have ever expected after first seeing him.

Oiler Scouts: "I don't know why this guy hasn't developed into a first liner yet.. It must be poor coaching. I swear this guy is the real deal - I would've taken him in the first round."

Lowe/Tambo: "Well, let's get him some good coaching then. Bring him to Edmonton. Will they take Horcoff?"

I'm quite in favor of the Oil Kings trading for Oilers prospects and using the team for development. Hire an NHL calibre coach and get it done. Why not? Attendance would go up...

3rd or 4th line for now... I expect the Oil Kings roster to look a LOT different 2 weeks from now.

Any chance Van De Mosselar and Raedeke headed to Brandon? I have heard that rumor from a few people

I have heard Brandon as well. I have not specifically heard Van D's name but he'd make sense.

I have heard Spokane, Brandon, Regina and Saskatoon as potential teams looking at Oil Kings players. I would think Kelowna and Vancouver could still be a player too.

Brandon, Spokane and Regina don't have room for another Euro though. I think Saskatoon does so Vincour would fit with the Blades.

why is that--

I have not been fallowing the kings this year--but I thought last year they were building a good team--has that changed?

They looked promising at the beginning of the year, but they have just come off a 11 game losing streak and a pretty far out of the playoff picture. Green is probably thinking of getting something for players that most likely be back next year in Vincour, Raedeke and Van De Moeseler.

Kelly McCrimmon is a pretty crafty trader and the rumors around Brandon is Raedke + Van De Mosseler for Erhardt,Prospect and a conditional draft pick if any of those guys comes back for his 20 year old season.

Can't imagine VanD not coming back next year... he's a slightly above average defenceman in my opinion and isn't property of anyone. I'd be surprised to see him get signed this summer.
