Pouliot - Gomez - Gionta

Pouliot - Gomez - Gionta has chemistry and played very well last night, at moments showed signs of greatness! I think that we have finally waken up Gomez now that his ''pal'' is back from shopping ;-)

New line combos:

Cammalleri - Plekanec - Kostitsyn
Pouliot - Gomez - Gionta
Pacioretty - Metropolit - Moen
Bergeron - Lapierre - Kostitsyn

Laraque

Markov - Spacek
Hamrlik - O'Byrne
Gill - Gorges

Mara

Price
Halak

I would do this:

Patches - Laps - SK
MAB - Metro - Moen

I don't know why people are acting like Gomez has "finally" woken up. He's been almost at a PPG pace ever since coming back from his injury. He just looked that much better with an actual shooter on his line in Gionta.

Don't try and reason with those who can't see past his salary, it won't work.

Yes. Big LOL's to everyone who had him on their 3rd/4th lines. It's obvious the kid has all the tools to put up some points.

Of course it is still up to him to step up and use those tools on a consisten basis. Hopefully this line can take off.

Call it the GPG line for Goal Per Game, hahaha!!

If MaxPac plays with Lapierre, i rather see him in Hamilton. Pacioretty needs Metro to do well.

Pacioretty-Metro-Sergei should be our third line.

Really? Based on what?

I do the already suggested;

Pacioretty-Lapierre-SKostitsyn
MAB-Metropolit-Moen

I think the forwards are bang on, however i would re-unit Hamrlik and Spacek and play O'Byrne/Mara with Markov.

Basically i would rotate Gill/Mara/O'Byrne....all 3 should take turns sitting. I want to see O'Byrne get some quality time with Markov to hopefully re-gain his confidence.

Ideally i would also like to see more sandpaper on the 4th line. Pacioretty has shown flashes but i still think he could benefit from playing 18-19 minutes a night in the AHL.

Exactly... 13 pts in 15 games in december. Those are very respectable numbers, especially with pleks taking over as a #1 center.

Gill should not sit... I dunno why everyone says he should. He was off to a slow start, but he has been great for us lately with the PK and even playing his limited 5 on 5 minutes. Mara and OB both have not played good enough to play first pairing minutes, and Spacek and Markov have been good together.

I would leave it as it is, and when hammer get back, maybe he can fuel OB

I agree with the Patches-Lapierre-SK
MAB-Metro-Moen Combination
Our lines are looking much more consistent with Gio back.
Gomez has been playing some great hockey recently. I'm liking our position down the middle right about now

The bottom two lines can all be mixed up at will by Martin, depending of who's playing well or not.

O'Byrne has some difficulties since he's back from his injury. Mara could take over.

Based on what we saw this season so far. I see a progression in MaxPac play and i have no doubt Metro helps him lot. Lapierre has been struggling so far this season, he's not the center that will help MaxPac.

One more reason, when Gionta was injured, Pacioretty played with Metro and Gomez on the powerplay.

I rather see a veteran like Metropolit who is very intelligent on the ice and have some offensive skill to play with Sergei and MaxPac and help them.

I think it's dumb to have SKost play on line 4. Not saying he deserves to have a top 6 role, but if he's playing limited minutes, what's the point? To keep Andrei happy?

I'd rather:
Patches-Metro-SK
MAB-Laps-Moen

I don't see why Laps deserves to play 3rd line instead of Metro who's having an awesome year.

I'm not getting excited over 1 game, I think Pouliot is still fighting SK for that top 6 spot. He did look promising but there's still lots of things to work on and hopefully he doesn't quit after a couple good games

This team has so much talent, can't wait to see them when they put it all together for 60 mins

I think you are alone on this one. When the Habs traded for Pouliot, they already had in mind to put him in the top 6 and they intended to give him every chances to succeed. I think they made it clear at the press conference. Also its easy to see that Pouliot's ceiling is waaay higher than SK's.

We need a 3rd line center at the trade deadline.

It's been one of our most consistent lines all year?

I agree. Metro has more offensive skills to bring to a line right now than Lappy does. Metro is a good stickhandler and makes tricky moves down low in the O zone. Lappy almost never does that. Metro has better vision and better passing skills than Lappy as well.

Pac-Metro-S. Kosti would be a nice 3rd line that could bring some scoring and be good on defence too.

Moen is good on the D, but not so good on the O.

While that may be true, I think the other guy is trying to say that there is certainly a chance for Sergei to grab that top 6 spot if Pouliot doesn't. I, personally, don't see that happening. I like the mix Pouliot brings to that line more than Sergei.

So assuming:
Cammy - Pleks - A.Kost
Pouliot - Gomez - Gionta
(that's potentially not a bad bottom playoff seed top 6 at all)

I guess that leaves S.Kost on the 4th line. I'd like to think he's technically an upgrade to Moen, but that 3rd line plays well together, and Moen's play away from/without the puck is a major component of that success. Not to mention, he manages to score big goals.

If Sergei play like he played against the Sens more often he will play on the 3rd line soon enough.
