Double bladed skates?

My 4-year-old daughter got a pair of double bladed skates for Christmas from her grandparents.

As a guy who's played hockey for nearly 20 years now, I have to admit that I cringed when she opened them. I had to calm myself a bit and remind myself that I know nothing about them and they may actually help her find her legs out on the ice. I took her skating a few times last winter without much success, she was only 3, so it's not like I worried at all.

Anyone have any experience with double-bladed skates for their kids?

She really likes to do things that daddy likes, but can get frustrated easily. So I'm really hoping she sees progress this winter on the ice.

The are called bob skates and they have been around for ever, they are great for really small kids who have just learned to walk.

it will probably help her find her legs, but once she is comfortable with skating, make the upgrade to 1 blade.

every one of my kids started on bobs. my son at 15 months, my 2nd son at 14 months, and my 2nd daughter at 19months.and they were all on single blades by 3 yrs old. its like training wheels for a bike. nothing wrong with them.

Also known as "cheese cutters". Very common first skates for pre school aged kids going back into the fifties and before. Excellent way to learn how to skate.
