Sens interested in Upshall

Quote:
Quick rumour sent my way late yesterday. It said that the Senators may be interested in Coyotes forward Scottie Upshall. Upshall is having a solid year in Phoenix with 13 goal and is currently making $1.5 mil a season and is scheduled to be an RFA at season's end.

Any ideas?

His PPG average is about 15 pts higher per full season in Phoenix than it is for his career before that. I'm guessing that Phoenix is happy with him.

you do realize he is playing on Phoenix... Why would they want to take on his salary. I really dont see Phoenix mocing Upshall considering the season they are having.

if they were to even move him, it would have to be the pick, no way the coyotes take on any salary as long as they're owned by the league.

Always sort of liked Upshall. I remember reading or hearing that Philly offered him to Ottawa for Neil at the deadline last year. Probably not true.

Anyway, Maloney fleeced Holmgren bad last year - Upshall and a 2nd for Carcillo? That's insane.

Why would they deal him? They're in a playoff spot and look great.

I'd like to have a grinder type player like Upshall that can score. Plus he has 15 PPG thats damn impressive. But the Coyote's won't trade him unless they are getting a good prospect in return.

I think I read on HF Boards that the NHL gave the thumbs up to Coyotes management to spend away.
