Kings v. Caps: **** YEAH WIN, **** YOU ROENICK, POST GAME THOUGHTS & TIDBITS

Kings 2
Caps 1

Post game article (Kings bust a cap at Staples and beat Washington 2-1) is up at http://www.lakingsnews.com. Click on the link for more.

Quote:
It was an afternoon game and we all know what that means...or do we?

The Kings came out full of piss and vinegar. They hit everything that wore white and red, number 8 included. In fact, kudos to the fan who brought the sign "our number 8 is better than your number 8" to the game. The first period drew a blur between the first 3 lines as the 2nd (Parse-Richardson-Simmonds) played a speedy and energy filled game while the 3rd (Frolov-Hanzus-Segal) used their size and strength to control the puck and play at and away from the boards.
Richardson is my number 1 star.

What a great game by the Frolov, Handzus, Segal line. It's a tribute to Zeus that whomever plays with him, plays well.

Richardson is really coming into his own and far more exciting, he is doing it game in and game out.

Kopitar with another meh.

Brown with a slightly improved meh. He was throwing his weight around.

Smyth is back in form, as is Simmonds. Simmonds had a quietly great game.

Drew is an animal, a ****ing 20 year old monster. Much love for Jack Johnson as well.

Quick is a number 1 hockey goalie god.

That second period got a bit spooky, but this game was an example of the Kings' season. Character and heart.

GO KINGS!

uuhmmmmmmmmmm.......

Richardson is right now our best Center.
He silents his haters every game he plays.
Hopefully some of you took a good look on a true 2nd line Center before
asking for ridiculous trades.......

I will not agree on Kopitar. He played well and his best defensive game this season...and Yes he missed one chance, otherwise I agree

That makes three wins in a row versus Washington. I'm pretty sure that relegates them to b**** status against us.

i like how doughty is showing all these other olympic dman "snubs" a true strong overall game...that shorty handed-goal was a perfect example of having an ice full of high-end offensively gifted players who cant defend to save their lives...

Richardson has been a monster since being moved off the 4th line. What 2nd round pick?

Quick with yet another great game.

My favorite part about the game was JR apologizing for his ****** play in LA.

And putting the O in Ovechkin. Shut Down.

Other teams know they have to bottle up Kopitar. It's almost as if Anze's best service to the rest of the team lately is to be a decoy, to free up the other Kings from having to deal with the opposition's best defenders.

Second the Richie comments. Not a single bad shift for the dude. I demand a public apology from Johnny Utah for ever bashing Richardson as a scrub, man can PLAY. That 3rd line is INCREDIBLE.

Ovechkin can suck it.

That was a damn hockey game.

Quick was fan-****ing-tastic. A truly awesome game, totally in control.

Zus deserved Green's star of the game, and Richie was my first with Quick a close second.

Awesome to see a full house on a Saturday!

I like it, end 2009 with a win, start 2010 with a win.

Green is a great talent, but he seems far more flash than actual defenseman.

And that 5-on-3 kill was one of the most exciting I've seen in a long time. That got the crowd going as much as the goals did.

Green was motivated I'm sure, with Doughty on the opposite side beating him out for an Olympic spot. Green actually had some hits (plural) in the game which I don't recall seeing from him in other games that I've watched the Caps play, maybe Stevie Y's comment about Doughty being the "all-around" defenseman choice for the Olympic squad got to Green a bit.

Kudos to Handzus-Scuderi-Greene, defending inside their zone on that 5-on-3. That was damn good work.

I bet they replay it. They usually do with the early games.
