What does an Olympic team cost these days?

I thought it would be interesting to compare the values of olympic teams. I have each teams NHL salaries added up per skater-type, with an estimated value of european players. I used $2M for each Euro-player, even jagr.

If any one would care to provide the numbers for the rest of the team, I'll update the OP as they come up. I won't lie, this was a lot of adding, so there's probably a few mistakes, but you get the idea.

Added jagr and federov's salaries

Canada
Forwards: $81.9M
Defence: $36.68M
Goaltenders: $16.95M
total: $135.5M

US
Forwards: $49.059M
Defence: $27.708M
Goaltenders: $13.05M
total: $89.817M

Russia
Forwards: $41.691M +5 ($51.691M)
Defence: $19.24M +2 ($23.24M)
Goaltenders: $10.447M
total: $71.408M ($85.378M)

Sweden
Forwards: $36.02M +2 ($40.02M)
Defence: $26.369M +1 ($28.369M)
Goaltenders: $7.775M +1 ($9.775M)
total: $70.164M ($78.164M)

Finland
Forwards: $30.15M
Defence: $17.25M +2 ($21.25M)
Goaltenders: $12.43M +2 ($16.43M)
total: $59.83M ($67.83M)

Czech
Forwards: $32.058M +4 ($42.058M)
Defence: $20.55M +1 ($22.55M)
Goaltenders: $7.133M +1 ($9.133M)
total: $59.741M ($73.741M)

Slovakia
Forwards: $22.733M +7 ($36.733M)
Defence: $19.475M +2 ($23.475M)
Goaltenders: $2.03M +1 ($4.03M)
total: $44.238M ($64.238M)

Not alot of surprises here, maybe the US being so high. The only team rivaling Canada in any category is Finlands goaltending.

That payroll total is glacial, persistent and omnipresent.... or whatever it was that he with the head of all heads said about the pressure on Canada to win

Not really surprising though pretty interesting to see. The best players get paid the bucks.

I won't look for links but these numbers are just inaccurate if you proceed the way you do. Fedorov makes 5 mil btw.

"Local and international media were reporting that Jagr will be paid $35 million for two years. However, in an interview with TSN, Jagr, himself, says the deal would pay him $5 million annually."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergei_Fedorov
"On May 25, 2009, it was reported that Fedorov would sign a 2 year contract with Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the KHL. The deal is reportedly worth $3.8 million per year.[8]"

This is why I asked for links, I don't want this thread getting over-run by snarky morons making up numbers (like yourself!).
