Last time BOTH goalies were pulled?

Today in the Sens-Flyers game BOTH starters were pulled. How often does that happen?

It happened today

I think the more important question is, how often does a goalie who is winning the game get pulled? I bet that happens less often

Leighton lets in 2 of 5 - he's out

Leclaire lets in 3 of 8(or 3 of10) - he's out

It happens once in a while, obviously not such a common occurrence, but far from a first.

Mad Mike likes to pull goalies and then put them back in as well, which is usually fun to see. Especially when he does it multiple times in a game.

oh, Jesus, i read the title as both goalies were pulled as in an extra skater. I couldn't for the life of me even figure out why

I don't recall seeing this...

but one team pulls their goalie for an extra attacker, then gets called on a delayed penalty, so the other teams goalie rushes to the bench. Now you have two extra attackers and no goalies.

Yeah but he'D have to rush to the bench REALLY quick before one of the shorthanded team shoot for the empty netter or the opposing team touch the puck... but it would be real fun to see for sure, haha

I actually think Ottawa pulled Gerber last year when they were winning, in November some time...

Actually I think it was against the Flyers too...

IIRC it was a couple seasons ago, I just remember John Paddock calling out Gerber in a post game interview.

During the Flyers broadcast for the very same Flyers-Sens game the topic is about, the announcers mentioned that the last time it happened was in December of 08. I forget what the teams were. I didn't think it would be that rare to be honest.

Rangers-Flyers did it maybe 2 years ago... Lundqvist and Nittymaki were both pulled for Valliquette and Biron...
EDIT: link to boxscore.... Lundqvist gone after the first, Nitty gone after giving up a goal to Christian Backman early in the 2nd.

That's what I assumed this thread was about, but I've never seen that oddball situation either. Though it'd be pretty funny if it happened. It would only last a few seconds I'd imagine, as the game would either end or the team would touch up.

Alternatively, when a goalie is pulled and an extra attacker is on the ice, can the goalie and the attacker switch at any time? Meaning, if this happens, can the extra attacker immediately skate to the bench and the goalie immediately skate to the crease?

Mike Keenan use to do that constantly. It was one of his trademarks in Chicago and Philly.
