I didnt mean a star, but it seems that he's a virtual lock to be an NHL regular.

That seems to be the consensus, but you never know. So far a LOT of our first-rounders have panned out in recent years, so that's good news. Of course the superstitious side of me says we're due for a big fat bust sooner or later...

I think we've already had our fair share of busts. Vaclav Nedorost, who was supposed to be a star, Vrbata, Cody Burki who was supposed to be what O'Reilly or Galiardi is now. Nigel Williams, Boychuk never amounted to anything with us. Kuleshov. Seriously, the Avs have a ton of busts, I think it's about fair time that we get somethings right.

Can anyone actually remember the last time a trade rumor involving Colorado came true?

Lets see,

Bowmy to Avs? Fail.
Luo to Avs? Fail.
Tanguay to Avs? Fail.

The Smyth rumours were about him signing with the Avs I believe during his UFA status.
If there was a Smyth rumour to the Avs, Fail. He ended up being traded to NYI.

So no, I can't remember the last time a trade rumour was true because there hasn't ever been one.

Tho, actually, shouldn't say never. The Foote ones were true but thats about it.

Hah, forgot about Burki...where is he now? Hockey DB says he was assigned to the Checkers but is no longer on the active roster.

The Smyth rumor was during the '08-09 deadline and came from a Kings writer I believe. Nothing directly prior to the off-season trade.

What a load of crap.

Yeah, I'll bet if the Avs offered Matt Duchene for Versteeg that would "get it done" too.

Obviously it was in the works for some time though.

Also the Theodore trade had some rumors around it prior to it happening (Lapperiere was actually the one rumored to be going the other way).

Yes, I agree. Still, it was startling when it did happen. Very quiet up until that time.

On an off-note I still can't believe we couldn't get a bloody goalie thrown into the deal... Well, not that it matters right now - as long as Quincey stays healthy and doesn't regress it'll continue being a win-win trade for both parties.
