Rangers-Oilers (Cogliano)

as per Hendricks Hockey

http://hendrickshockey.com/index.php...mors&Itemid=86

don't know how reliable a source this is but I figured I would post it anyway.

Cogliano? he's only 22 anybody know more on him. I don't know why Edm would want to trade him.

Dont see how he would help the Rangers right now. I dont think he would add a ton of scoring. But hes got speed... Seems to me like he would be another redundant part here. But at least hes young.

Quote:
The Oilers would love to move Cogliano, O'Sullivan, Staios, and Moreau so I would expect one of them names involved in any trades they make. The Oilers would be looking to aquire nothing but youth. I am not ready to say a trade will for sure happen but I can confirm one is close in the making.
Cap Hits:

Cogliano - 1.133 - upcoming RFA
O'Sullivan - 2.925 - 1 yr. remaining - RFA
Staios - 2.7 - 1 yr remaining - UFA
Moreau - 2.0 - 1 yr. remaining - UFA

Dont think any of them would make a significant difference in this team.

I've always like O'Sullivan, but i really don't know where he is in his career right now, i havent seen him play enough to make an honest assessment. He had the one great year in LA and that was it really. He has talent, but im not sure where you would play him and whos spot he would take, unless Prospals injury is a lot worse than it seems to be which i doubt. Plus his cap hit is a bit steep and hes RFA after another year.

Moreau I wouldnt touch.

Staios is a rugged vet the Rangers could have used at the start of the season. Cap hit is a little high for the Rangers to swallow, but if they could fit him in Id rather have him than Redden for sure... duh.

he wouldn't be a bad addition in a general sense, but he doesn't help this team score more I don't think, in that he's not going to come in and do it all himself or something, and the last rumor was that the Rangers would send back Dubinsky, which would be a bad bad deal.

and wow is Cogliano having a bad season this year

cogliano has good speed and decent upside. I'd take a flyer on him. I think he'd be better than a lot of the guys we have right now

He seems to be more of what the Rangers have ; an underachieving potential 20goal scorer. That article also mentionned Phaneuf - would love to see him in a Ranger jersey.

Definitely overrated and another victim of the Canadian hype machine, IMO.

If the price is right, I don't see any harm in acquiring him, but I'm not willing to give up anything significant. I'd be far more interested in O'Sullivan. Higgins for Sully straight up.

Thats how i feel. Still feel like Cog would be a little redundant on this team though.

Interesting tidbit about Phaneuf at the end too. This will probably get its own thread soon i would think

The only thing that would help the Rangers right now is dumping the big contacts of Redden Rozy and Drury. Otherwise, we might as well rebuild and go young because this team isn't winning a thing with $20 mill tied up in 3 guys who can't score. We have a very deep talented young D core. Kreider and Stepan looked amazing at the worlds. A few more young F's and this team contends in 3-4 yrs which is as good as we can hope for with these contracts...

Not sure if they'd take Higgins straight up, but i would do it in a heartbeat!

O'Sullivan would be a great addition for present and future.

Gotta get the idea of improving THIS team, out of the thought process.

Cogliano would be a forward thinking move.

Who gives a crap about this season? It's a lost cause. Not worth sacrificing a single moment of the future for.

The moves Sather SHOULD be looking for are deals where we unload the contracts.

Freeing roster spots for our homegrown players.

Sadly you couldn't be any more correct, before you build the muscle you have to cut the fat.

I heard somewhere (probably Boomer on NHL Home Ice) that Cogliano looks like he doesn't even want to be on the ice anymore. Whether that's a product of playing on a poor Oiler team or being demoted to the 4th line, I don't know, but I don't want a player who quits on the team when his role is changed. Maybe a change of scenery will help, but I don't like it for the NYR.

I am all for a deal with Edmonton. Cogliano, Grebeshkov and O'Sullivan please

Higgins, Kotalik, Girardi, Rozsival, Sanguinetti,Vally..........options to move in this one

both teams need a shakeup. I really think something will go down. Not all these names but something

Yea but they would likely take some salary back

Girardi and Sanguinetti are young. Vally makes sense for a back up G

I guess we shall see if anything goes down

As long as its not Dubi, Cally, Anisimov

Lisin I am fine with moving for the right players but he is cheap

no interest in Staios or Moreau

O'Sullivan would be a $3 million cap hit next season.

Do not want.

Wow Cogliano is having a down year, he's got great speed......where have I heard that before? In all seriousness his stock is at an all-time low right now, I'd take a crack at him depending on what's going the other way. O'Sullivan's on pace for a 40 point season, I'd take either one of those guys back in a deal. Penner's what this team needs right now but with that cap hit it's unlikely.
