The American Hockey League announced today that 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic Fan Balloting, presented by CCM, will begin Friday, December 17, at 12:01 a.m. EST, exclusively on the official Web site of the AHL, theahl.com.
Fans will have the opportunity to vote for the most deserving AHL players by visiting theahl.com and completing the official AHL All-Star Fan Ballot. The players receiving the most votes by position will earn berths in the starting lineups of both the Canadian AHL All-Star team and the PlanetUSA AHL All-Star team at the 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic, to be held Feb. 13-14 in Manchester, N.H. A committee of AHL coaches will select the remaining All-Stars, and all 28 clubs will be represented on the final rosters.
Grrrrrr I still hate the "every team must have a rep" rule. There are some really BAD teams with no deserving players, as there are every year. I wish the ballot was like any other leagues and not 1 player per team.
Needless to say, I'll be going to the game/skills anyway.
i understand the whole "fan outreach" thing that they go for with the interactive balloting, but i really wish they'd just pick all-star teams through an independent panel. all-star games should be just that...rather than another homer-fest.
The game is meaningless nowadays, the players don't play as hard as they once did. Let the fans decide who goes there because most of the whole tradition mumbo-jumbo has been lost anyway.

That wont stop people complaining about selections.
That's the truth. Not to mention, does it really matter?
Didn't someone get hurt during the skills competition last year, or am I thinking of some other league?
It was Nathan Robinson of Grand Rapids. It was during the fastest skater competition if I remember correctly. He went down right along where we were seated. Not sure of the injury, but I know alot of the GR fans have said he hasn't been the same since.
