Rangers Prospect Poll: #2

We have our top prospect: Michael Del Zotto, with Sanger as the unanimous choice to be added to the poll.

Now that the easy part is over, let's get to the fighting over who's second-best. I suspect we'll have much closer polls in the next few rounds.

Remember, we can't all have our own personal standard for who's a prospect, so let's all use the HF rules: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/whatmakesaprospect

Don't forget to list who you want added to the poll in the next round.

1. Michael Del Zotto

I put Kreider over Anisimov, add Sauer.

Just because I thin Kreider is riskier, a nd may have a higher upside. His development is a higher priority to the organization IMO.

I didn't vote for AA because his upside is limited. I don't see him as a first liner. We have so many top shelf prospects that to be our second-best guy, you have to have first-line potential.

He's already a solid third liner, but I think his upside is that of a second liner. The kid is a taller version of Dubi-Dubi-Doo. That's not bad, but given our defense corp, I would want a higher ceiling for our second best guy.

To say he doesn't have first line potential is false, in my opinion. He's shown flashes, he's still growing, and he's already playing in the NHL.

Add Heikkinen.

AA can't go against someone who's actually in the NHL and doing well.

Anisimov for me. While he doesnt have the upside of Grachev, Stepan and Kreider he is already doing it in big leagues. 21 year 2-way centre on pace for around 30 points in his rookie season playing around 12 minutes a game and hardly any PP.

Add Gilroy or Werek

I just don't get the folks who always insist that playing in the NHL makes the player a better prospect. All it means is that he's a little further along in his development. As BH99 stated at the beginning of the first thread:

So with that said, Grachev is my choice. Then Stepan. THEN Anisimov. Kreider thereafter (although if he continues his development from that amazing WJC performance, he could well be at the top of the list for the next poll).

Add Werek.

If I'm a GM, I'll take Anisimov. There are some other guys with more upside, but I'm pretty confident I know what I have--at the minimum--with Anisimov.

EDIT: I guess my point is that some people place a premium on the "known" and value that more than the "unknown."
