I'd have to pretty much agree with that assessment.

No one else for a top albums of 2009 discussion? I felt it was significantly better than 2008.

As for an early favorite for 2010:

As for an early favorite for 2010:

That sounds like 90% of everything being played live in indie clubs everywhere. Especially in the DC the last few years. It just gets old.

Finally got Them Crooked Vultures...Dave Grohl is like Johnny Appleseed. Instead of planting trees, he just starts cool bands.

I might put something together, not to 50 though, maybe top ten.

50 is tough to do. It look me 2 days to put it together (although I was a bit more in-depth searching for youtubes and such), although not 2 days straight obviously.

And even at 50, there was a few I was mad I didn't get to until it was really too late (Fever Ray, Neon Indian, Alec Ounsworth)

I read through your list. Tough for me to comment on the structure of the list because I haven't heard a lot of the CDs. Pretty clear we have different tastes but I like some of whats on there. My fav cd of the year was easily Them Crooked Vultures self titled release. I also liked the new cds from The Flaming Lips, Phish, Pearl Jam, Arctic Monkeys, Muse, Franz Ferdinand, Eels, Dinosaur Jr, Wilco, The Dead Weather, Wolfmother, and Les Claypool (definitely some others I'm forgetting...)

And I agree, it was a better year than 2008.

TCV was another one I didn't get to until it was too late. In fact I don't even have it on my ipod yet, but I have heard it.

Wolfmother didn't really do anything for me. If it was a top 60 list, Arctic Monkeys, Muse, eels, and Dinosaur Jr would probably be there.

Yeah, I saw it mentioned on one of the lists on the Entertainment Board and like Neon Indian, and **** Buttons...I was just like..."****!"

Speaking of Fever Ray, when can we except something from the Knife?

http://theknife.net/

The Knife, in collaboration with Mt. Sims and Planningtorock, are to release the studio version of the opera 'Tomorrow, In A Year', on the 1st March 2010.

Commissioned by Danish performance group Hotel Pro Forma to write the music for their opera based on Charles Darwin and his book 'On the Origin of the Species', The Knife decided to make this a collaborative process, working with artists Mt. Sims and Planningtorock for the first time, to capture the huge width of the Darwin and evolution theme.

To be honest, I didn't like what I heard from The Knife much. Sorry.

Well, not sure how wide your music tastes are, but if your cup of tea is metal, bands like the Knife, **** Buttons, Au Revoir Simone even, likely not your thing

Wow, this is an 11-minute song.

What song is long? I mean, I've downloaded their stuff and didn't like it much. I pretty much listen to anything that isn't country, rap or pop... depends on the pop though.
