Non-Gate Revenues Thread

Hello All,

I'm a long time reader, first time poster.

I am wondering if anyone has knowledge of how much teams make in non-gate revenue.

I've noticed that a number of people on this board dismiss the Forbes numbers as highly inaccurate, but they are the only ones I've seen, so I'm going to use them as my example.

Based on the Forbes numbers, the average gate receipts is about $40 million, and average revenue is about $94 million. So the average difference between revenue and gate receipts seems to be about $54 with a median difference at about $50 million. I know that some of that comes from Luxury boxes, but my question is where does the rest come from? They say the NHL is a gate driven league, but it seems like more than half of team revenues come from elsewhere.

If I'm incorrect in something, please show me my error.

The Levitt Report numbers from '02-'03 showed that ~50% of NHL revenues came from gate revenue - with the bulk of the balance split between broadcast deals and in-arena revenues (Luxury Boxes, Sponsorships, Advertising, Concessions, Parking, etc).
