I think Greene will still play. It's not like he got hit by a Jeep or anything.

... I'd like to see that. Again, I don't see where Purcell is actively hurting the team, all I see is a guy that so far hasn't met the expectations of scoring placed upon him. He's learning other facets of the game at the NHL level, and done so while out of position and constantly shuttled between lines.

... Did you actually see Modry play defense? I'm not saying Harrold is great, but Modry's D was subpar at best. Modry was an offensive defenseman, a power play specialist.

Let me put on my Johnny Utah mask for a second, if Greene is out, along with Ivanans, Brad May is going to have a field day.

... Brad May is 83 years old and plays 7 minutes a game. If the Kings can't collectively prevent him from having a field day, then they're in far worse shape than I thought.

O'Donnell can neutralize May no problem.

Actually, O'Donnell is who I view as the real enforcer on this team anyways.

shades of Bobby Ryan turning Petey inside out like a worn sock rob me of my rest!

If you think Jones ISN'T slow, then yeah, I think you wouldn't mind seeing Drew Baggage. For the rest of us, Voynov would be the go to guy right about now.

I love the optimism for our warrior, but a sore back (and/or back spasms) can be far worse than it sounds. Literally, low back spasms can immobilize you to the point that even standing, much less twisting and skating is painfully difficult.

A severe case can leave you stuck in bed, having to crawl to get to the bathroom.

I hope its not that bad.

He was on the ice today and left to get treatment. As someone who has a recurring lower back problem, his treatment was probably the same as mine. Hit the whirlpool, take some vicodin, get stretched then get a massage. He'll be fine as long as it doesn't tighten up too much when he sleeps tonight. He'll probably hit the whirlpool and get another massage tomorrow and be good to go.

I know of what you speak. Every so often, usually after an overly physical game, a hit to the back or along the boards, I suffer from back spasms (from mild to severe). There have been a few times where I truly had to crawl out of bed. When they get that severe, I go to the acupuncturist, then an epsom salts jacuzzi and, if absolutely necessary, a muscle relaxant (flexiril) which leaves me a little loopy (more so than normal) the next day.

Its one good reason to keep strengthening the stomach wall, no matter how big the gut gets. A strong stomach wall helps tons with a bad back, but it wont stop spasms or pain from a disc injury.

Lets hope Greene's well enough to play as he is an integral part of our defense.

P.S. It sucks getting old, don't it?

I'm just saying that Matt Greene is a stud and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he did play.

At least we have a nice home stretch so we can put Harrold/Martinez out against line 3 and 4's

Per Hammond, Greene is back out on the ice today. Stud indeed.
